I know what it means, having done a translation (Google Translate, actually - I'm not that good at French!!) so I think that it's by one of the screen stunt actors. Let's try Buster Keeton .... although why he'd be speaking in French, I really don't know!

The three main character are walking down the road and one of them says to the others (Roughly speaking) "Have you heard the one about the man falling from a tall building, to reassure himself on the way down as he passes each floor he says "So far so good, so far so good". How you fall isn't important, what matters is how you land."

The quote is repeated at the end of the film but changed slightly, its starts "It's about a society in Freefall", the rest is pretty much the same. Good film.
