TfC tweeted that timetables are 'available on bus from your driver, in our Newquay bus station and Truro offices also in Redruth and St Austell Railway stations'

So looks like you can go in the Truro office, weather its like the Newquay travel shop for general enquiries or just available to the public to ask for a timetable, I would say the latter given that they have tweeted about the Newquay travel shop being open and shown it's staff but nothing about Truro

They need to be available in Penzance - the National Trust Visitor Centre took the place of the Tourist Information Centre in 2014 and stocks FK's timetables since the demise of their own travel office. Nick Hood is the Manager, the tel. no. 01736 335530. As he's very personally involved in Penzance's Business Improvement District, he should be keen on anything that will aid trade in the area. I happen to know that FK's timetables shift very quickly there when they are new, even at wintertime, so I'm confident he will be receptive.

Especially given the fact TfC is a dominant operator around Penzance and tourists won't be familiar with the operator, might be worth getting on to the Visitor Centre and TfC?

I'll aim to do it on Monday, as it doesn't open weekends!

Good luck, you'll get to know TfCs Customer service team quite well at this rate!

Got a timetable from a driver yesterday it's quite good actually, pretty much the same as Kernow's book but without the route map

Nick left sometime ago.
First contribute a significant amount towards the running costs of the visitor centre.

FK is the dominant operator around Penzance. 9.5 departures an hour v approx 3 per hour for TfC (with nothing on Sundays).

Should of said 'one of the main operators' really, admit reading my post now it does look like I was saying TfC are bigger than Kernow down Penzance, but they are large enough to justify timetables being available and some kind of advertising to say 'we are here as well!'

Won't TfCs presence down Penzance increase a bit during the Winter as well?

Yes, agreed on both points.

The former council timetable books haven't been available in Penzance for a few years so I'm not holding out much hope that the TfC books will be either.

Shame the council books were forgotten about really or just the council didn't care about them, as they were really useful having all train and bus companies in one book, personally I feel the closest we got to an integrated transport system even before the council wanted such a thing

The draw back I feel is that they didn't update it enough, so you still had to get your GWR, Kernow and look up any independent operators timetables to plan a journey once it was out of date

So with TfC having a limited summer presence down Penzance, also with a Pandemic still raging on, I wouldn't be getting my hopes up getting one down Penzance either, guess they will be stocking them in areas they are more frequent for a while yet

I'm staggered just how many TfC buses I see around every weekday in and around Penzance, admittedly many going to/from depot oos. This is mainly in the area between the bus station and Long Rock, rather than Greenmarket, but it certainly gives the impression that they are a major competitor to FK to the uninitiated (or otherwise uninterested in the subject.) Most of these buses are small and single deck of course, but then passenger numbers are hardly an issue at present. Of course, once the open tops come into play, everything changes. But, certainly, with the large sums of public money invested in these TfC services, and given there's rightly a printed timetable in book format, it should certainly be made readily available in each of the operating areas.

In Truro, Falmouth and Newquay they are always coming and going, the Truro station staff certainly have their work cut out these days

The only difference I suppose that stops them being all out rivals is that they are currently targeting different markets TfC more for locals particularly the older generation but Kernow more focusing on tourists and eventually students, not saying both operators are ignoring everyone else but that seems to be their focuses

The council produced timetable books were okay.

They were produced annually so were out of date once the summer came to an end.

Do services that are not run by either Kernow or Go Ahead appear in the TfC book, The St Ives local services are the ones that spring to mind at first, they always appeared in the council book

Thought they were produced for the Summer timetables so out of date for the Winter, last copy I got was the May 2019 edition?

Either way if they were updated more often they could of been a great asset to local and visitors alike, but were only really any good for 6 months of the year, not helped by rail and bus companies changing their timetables at different times

Unfortunately no, so the council book isn't totally obsolete with the new TfC network, it will still be useful to many travellers on independent services such as St Ives Bus Company

No TfC timetable books available in Camborne (bus or railway station) or Redruth railway station today.

I've never seen even a FK timetable book available at Penzance railway station - joined-up thinking is no more prevalent in public transport than it is in any other facet of life in this country, possibly with a few exceptions that don't currently come to mind. :)

Knowing the railways GWR won't allow FK timetables in the station.

Yet I've picked them up in Snozzell. It's a bit crazy at both there and Penzance have the potential to excellent modal integration.
Agreed. The live departures display at Penzance bus station shows both train and bus, but needless to say nothing reciprocal in the railway station.

There used to be two workings on the 304 (am and pm) that were deckers to cater for school children & students from / to R L School/ Truro college.

Was on the 2nd ever journey for LN20 PVO on the 09:37 69A service from Penryn Campus to Falmouth Moor earlier, was only delivered from the factory last night, the USB ports are thankfully on the back of seats like they are on Kernow's 18 plate MMCs, and the seats are quite comfortable with good size windows. Although due to the low floor, they aren't speed bump friendly and the drivers have to crawl over them, although they said their lovely to drive and every passenger was impressed. A few drivers are still a bit weary of driving a brand new bus and getting use to how they handle, but I would be myself given the investment in them

Used the TfC app for the first time as well, and worryingly OTS drivers don't recognise their M-tickets nor does the ticket machine recognise them, one said to me that's a First ticket you need the U1, and I promise it was a TfC ticket but he said how is it and I said cause it's on your app!

I would of hoped teething trouble like that would be sorted over 3 months into the contract, but seems it currently still exists hopefully not for much longer once more people start using the m-tickets and the ticket machine issues are sorted
Do you know what seating capacity is on these, they look alot longer than other ones i've seen?

Not sure to be honest, presume no standies (not like that would matter anyway currently), but 20 odd possibly maybe more?
