Evening all

I have just seen a grade 3 job advertised.

Does anybody know how busy grade 3 boxes are on average (I appreciate it varies)?

Also the spec states "The salary for this role is circa £29,034 per annum, dependent on experience". Any idea how much less somebody with no rail experience would be paid?

Thanks

On a scale of 2-9, 9 being the busiest, I'd say about a 3.

In seriousness, you can probably find out exactly, but it won't be very busy.

As for the salary, I don't think it actually does vary. The grades are a set amount. I imagine it's just from a pre-written form for other jobs. You'd get the 29k plus OT and shift allowances.

Most of our boxes are grade 3, and it really does vary - generally, though, it's reasonably busy but not exactly overworked, with plenty of time (usually interrupted) to prepare and eat proper meals. Freight makes up a good proportion of our traffic though, and sometimes it all seems to appear at once - a grade 3 box that's predominantly dealing with passenger traffic might be more consistently busy.

Do you know which box it's for?

Thanks for the replies.

Yes its in Ely, Cambridgeshire. I am struggling to find much information online. I have been on the Historical UK Railway website but it just refers to the boxes in the area that have closed. There isnt any details about the current facilities. Does anybody have any knowledge to pass on?

Thanks

Its the box in Ely (Cambs), cannot find any details of it, in fact one site says it has been taken out of service. Can anbody confirm the current situation?

Why do my posts need approval from a mod?

It'll be near Ely rather than in Ely itself - probably out towards Peterborough (are the boxes on the Kings Lynn line all grade 2?). If so, then yes - they're busy, consistently!

Ok that would be good as I live to the north west of Ely :)

Is anybody able to confirm location?
