The letters will be added to all the 16x in the Bristol area eventually (166s - A, B & C and 165s - D & E) so that it will make it easier for passengers to locate their carriage if they have reserved a seat. 5 car formations with 166s and 165s are what is planned.
Thanks. I hope there is something to tell the passengers what to look for, otherwise it looks as 'internal' as, e.g., the ride height mod triangle or even the unit number!

But how are they doing reservations on the 165 and 166s if they're 2+3, unnumbered, and have no slots?

Apparently the DfT aren't even letting that change?
I am not 100% sure but all I do know is that they are lettering them to allow A, B, C, D, E 16x formations

Teasing Portsmouth to Cardiff passengers with well refurbished class 158s just before their replacement with inferior and tatty turbos

The Turbos are meant to be getting refurbished with 2+2 seating.

It’s still an aim, however with cascade commitments it’s currently not practical to release Turbos for further modification work before entering into service. The DfT are also understandbly unhappy with the reduction in capacity refurbishment would cause; so some negotiations to be had there still.

Portsmouths will have to endure the 2+3 seating layout for the time being.

Do you know when the 16x will start on Portsmouth?

Not specifically. Later in the Summer route clearance should be expected; but the Turbo cascade has its own thread so perhaps this should be left to Livery updates.

Here's a livery update using 59CosG95's layout. Here are the main aspects of it:

- There will be errors is this, due to keeping track of the changes being difficult.
- Current off lease rolling stock has been removed, this is purely for GWR only.
- Class 165/166 are divided to indicate where they're based at.
- Sections in ITALICS are ones I am unable to confirm whether there's been any changes, so that stayed untouched since last update. (Relying on your contribution to make this list correct)
- Again, there will be errors. I'm relying on our combined knowledge to correct me on this list.

Great. Just a point or two. 150207 missing which is in Northern Livery which has just been transferred in but not worked yet due to Mods. The only 153s still with GWR are:-

43092/098 are now green. 43170/189 are not green yet but are at Doncaster for repaint.

There are also quite a number of HST trailers painted green scattered around in various sets. These are vehicles that have been to Loram for C6.

For the sleeper fleet all the TSOs are green - these are the 12xxx vehicles. For the RFMs 10217 (RFM) is also now green.

Indeed somewhat surprisingly now green are some of the 408XX TRFBs.

A Shame to see 43003 go, is that Scotrail bound? I wonder what the future holds for 43002 what with it not being on the retained list for GW.

43003 is a ScotRail machine. Power cars going off lease currently are all ScotRail bound - another 24 to go yet.

The 408xx being painted is purely because they are due overhaul - the vehicle owners are quite rightly enforcing the maintenance cycles.

43195 can be removed from the list too - after it hit a tree on Hemerdon Bank on New Years' Eve, it was withdrawn from service and is being used as Laira's Chrimbo Tree for the FirstGroup fleet.

Reckon they've been swapped over with 150207 then which arrived at SPM with 3 old and 1 new style BMAC.

Speaking of, 150207 now has GWR Stickers on Northern Rail base livery.

I don't know I'm afraid, although it shouldn't be too long now given the tightness of the fleet at the moment - That depends on how well the modifications (and perhaps given the state of Newton Heath's fleet, restoration?) have gone.
