Are there enough positions?! :P So you've had yours today? Was it fun?

I have no idea how many they employ at a time or if there is just one?

It is actually my husband who had his today (i'm just the one who likes forums). not sure he would have called it fun but he said the interviewers were nice and easy to get on with x

when is yours?

29th. Was your husbands at Colchester station? Any insights? How long it lasted and was it quite casual? My last managers interview was like the structured interview and really competency based.

Yes Colchester....he felt more at ease than structured and very chatty rather than questions just answered. But it was competence based with questions around his experience and what he would do in scenarios.

Good Luck!

You all prepared for tomorrow David? :D you'll do fine, if I can pass it, then you definitely can

I've just received an email saying my medical is this Thursday, talk about short notice but luckily I'm on annual leave after today :D so I can attend.

I don't feel prepared! My problem is i'm confident in my abilities to do the job but not confident in showing/explaining in an interview :p.

Also feel a bit negative due to not having my feedback from the last interview which to me felt really positive and I can't think what I did wrong so its really difficult to know what to change.

Either way the interview is happening so i'll just do my best, same as last time and hope it's enough.

Just cause you didn't get the job doesn't mean you didn't interview well- just there was stiff competition and others just beat you! So stay positive! Good luck and relax! X

Well I was meant to receive a letter a week later, but I waited 2 weeks and ended up emailing the manager who interviewed me and I asked him :lol:but because I'm interval I don't think he even sent me a letter, I think he was just waiting for me to email or my letter was lost in the post :|

I'd say give it 2 weeks then contact someone and ask :)

Fingers crossed for you :) suppose it's better to say a few weeks than 1 week and then not find out in that time like mine. No courses till March and April so guess there not really in a rush. Sure you did great.

Definitely painful!!!

I can't stop thinking about it! The interview, the interview I had last year.. the letter.. etc

It's only Thursday. I hope we hear soon(ish) if I was the last of 6 people who got to this stage then it can't be too hard to get it sorted.. :)

I think the interviewers mentioned your husband.. They said on Friday they had someone who has been in the process since 2011 when talking about how long it's taken to get this far. Yeah my interview wasn't with Adrian Mann at the end of the day! I assume it was the same people as your husbands interview if not one.

:)

Did they tell you it was 6 people at this stage? Did they say how many positions? Argh- why would it take a few weeks- I really hope it doesn't like you say! X

Just remember that Gidea Park goes to Cross Rail in 2015.

Hi dave, thought you would know this one. How does the shift pattern work for depot drivers at Colchester/Clacton? And holidays? Sundays? Etc
Thanks x

Hi, just to say the best of British to all of you who are awaiting the outcome of your D.M. interviews. I've just finished the traction module and now have 5 1/2 weeks in the Depot before I do my final assessments. I'll tell you this much - I have NEVER had a job where every morning without exception I've woken up and thought "sound, I'm off to work today"! Doubt if you'll ever get a job like it (and I'm not even mainline) - there isn't a job on this planet that I'd swap it for - that's how much I'm enjoying it! Good luck peeps!:D

Aww fantastic well done :D

I was in the medical place for about 1 hour 45 mins, but the last 40 mins I was waiting around.

You have to fill out a questionnaire to start with about your health and medications that you take...you then go over it with them and explain a bit more about yourself.

First they do your blood pressure, height and weight and they also measure your neck

Next they test your eyesight by reading from the large letters to the small letters on a chart then they test your colour blindness which is basically reading dotted coloured numbers from a dotted coloured background, I got 1 wrong but I corrected it so I was fine so don't worry about making a mistake.

Then they will sit you in a booth and test your hearing, when you hear a noise you click the button, very simple.

Next bit was a new thing for me, I had to lay on a bed and they stuck some wires on me and hooked me up to a heart machine but everything was fine for me :D

Lastly is the bit we all love, the urine test and you have to give them quite a bit so be prepared

And then you have to wait a bit for another GP just to tell you how you got on and when you will hear your results. I had to wait about 40mins to see him but might be quicker for you :D

Hope that all makes sense :D

Much like Ellie, I was meant to get a letter a little over a week after my interview. Waited 3 and then emailed the person who sent me the initial interview details, as no letter arrived. Got a call a few days after that, which is when they confirmed I'd passed. It took so long that I'd thought I'd not done well!

Thanks for the info Ellie. I don't know why I had visions of bring on a treadmill during the medical! We're you advised when the training starts? I was just told "pending the medical, course starts in April".

Haha nah it's not that bad although they do ask you what exercise you do. I forgot one thing, they make you do like a movement test, basically copying what the lady does, so moving your arms and bending down, stuff like that :)

No all I got was April too, no dates just yet, hope it's the beginning of April, don't want to wait even longer  I don't even know where I'll be, either gidea park or ilford, maybe I'll find that out when I start training :|
