Yes it’s about that for pre rules - then jumps up after 12 weeks post rules and is 4 weekly pay.Does Southern and GN have the same training pay of 32, 080?

That's only for Southern. Thameslink training pay stays the same until qualified. Then it jumps up and is more than Southern first year drivers payYes it’s about that for pre rules - then jumps up after 12 weeks post rules and is 4 weekly pay.
Almost right, 14 weeks rules. Not 12. Exams every Fri. Big exam week 5, and 14.That's only for Southern. Thameslink training pay stays the same until qualified. Then it jumps up and is more than Southern first year drivers pay
Salary progression is as follows for Southern:
Your salary will be £31,382 until you have completed the rules training (about 12 weeks). During this time you will be learning from Monday to Friday 9-5
Once your rules training is complete, your salary will rise to £42,326.
When you finish your training and 225 hours (about 12-15 months) your salary will rise again to £59,084. Whilst you complete your hours, you will be shadowing a DI, completing the hours that they do.
After a year of qualified driving, your salary will increase to £63,294.

Are you training from home mostly @Vola_c and how are you finding it?Almost right, 14 weeks rules. Not 12. Exams every Fri. Big exam week 5, and 14.
Week 1 was home. Weeks 2, 3 and 4 were at London bridge with the odd day at hornsey where the simulator is. Week 5 at home but only because our trainer is off sick. I live the furthest away from London bridge so it's a 5 hour round trip every day so I'm pretty tired before I start hitting the books but I'm honestly enjoying it. Got our first major exam on Mon (the bank hol threw us out of sync) before front ending for the first time. It's hard but if you put the effort in it's fine and the guys in your class are pretty awesome. Drop me a message if you want to know anything else but basically look forward to an exciting change.Plus sundays 17 in a year I believe

Oh ok, thats makes it 13 times a year but slightly lesser pay every 28 days as compared to monthly then, to make up for the extra month! Right?Four weekly at GN matey.
Big exam... now a few of us are getting scared..Almost right, 14 weeks rules. Not 12. Exams every Fri. Big exam week 5, and 14.
Sorry. So every Fri you have an assessment based on your week's learning. Starts off easy then builds up. Weeks 5 and 14 they do big assessments to ensure you've got everything you've been taught so far. I've found it hard initially as I had no railway background but I've put the work in and am doing ok. Now what we are learning seems to be new for everyone, the ex railway staff too so you help each other. They've invested a lot into you to get you this far. If you struggle at any of the assessments they go over stuff afterwards and if they have any concerns you can retake the test. So far no one has had to do any again yet. If you can demonstrate you understand it and have a professional discussion with them, they're happy. It's not easy. I'd be wrong to say it's all easy but if I can do it anyone can and I'm really enjoying it all. Itching to get out and do front ending now. Honestly don't worry and be excited for your first day. Is this first degree level exams or masters level comparison?
Sorry for my poor comparison? Just wanted to have an idea?

You can do them with your DI as optional. You'll only get paid sundays once qualified i believe, not while training.

I hope you get that call soon. Hopefully see you on the trains soonVola,
Great write up above..This will motivate a fee on here I believe.
Hard work pays off so hopefully I will go in there and do my best , when called!.
Expecting a call anytime..been in the pool 2.5 years!
Thank you. Hope get your course soon. You can do them with your DI as optional.

Well done! Here’s to a long and successful career!Hi thanks you! I heard the next morning that I have passed! Thanks for your well wishes
You are correct, You can’t do Sunday’s as a trainee on TLTrainees never used to be able to work Sundays on TL, not been a DI for a while now and we've not had many come through recently so must have changed.
Just be aware southern and TL have different days they swap over shifts, this means on TL its not really possible to do a permanent set of early or late shifts each week without a real headache occurring.
I believe with southern its possible.
Only mentioning as there seems to be a lot of people lately asking to be accommodated on certain shifts and the company won't do it as its not in their interests apparently.
2.5 years that's a long wait. Hopefully you get your start soonVola,

Oh wow, You must fly through the training then! Got zero railway knowledge!Hey, I waited about a week or so. Got a date for May but couldn't accept it because of my notice period but then after a few weeks got offered a start date for August and I've accepted. Yeah, I'm currently a depot driver elsewhere. Maybe try emailing them?
Yeah not sure about TL but on southern you can as optional- I suppose it’s something I would do as extra money and hours done quickerTrainees never used to be able to work Sundays on TL, not been a DI for a while now and we've not had many come through recently so must have changed.
