One of the 166s failed at Trowbridge this morning on the 08:24 Bristol Parkway - Problem with the doors. What was weird, was that the buzzer must've failed on the following service that was also a Turbo as the guard walked through the carriage with a green flag when she went to do the doors at Avoncliff.
The following service was 08:45 Westbury to Gloucester (08:51 dep from Trowbridge).Any idea which 166 it was or what service it was on after 2D05 0644 Weymouth to Trowbridge?
Thank you so presuming must have been empty coaching Trowbridge to Westbury to then be restarted from Westbury? The following service was 08:45 Westbury to Gloucester (08:51 dep from Trowbridge).
Oh, I think I misunderstood. The 6:44 Weymouth - Trowbridge train ran towards Bristol empty, so i assume it ran to the depot. I thought you were referring to the train afterwards - my apologies.Thank you so presuming must have been empty coaching Trowbridge to Westbury to then be restarted from Westbury?
Does anyone happen to know what type of 2 car unit covered this diagram today?
2F11 1125 Westbury - Frome
2C92 1140 Frome - Bristol Temple Meads
2K24 1323 Bristol Temple Meads - Severn Beach
2K25 1412 Severn Beach - Bristol Temple Meads
2K30 1523 Bristol Temple Meads - Severn Beach
2K31 1612 Severn Beach - Bristol Temple Meads
2C83 1728 Bristol Temple Meads - Weston-super-Mare
2K40 1816 Weston-super-Mare - Severn Beach
2C91 1942 Severn Beach - Taunton
2M74 2136 Taunton - Bristol Temple Meads
For 3 weeks now the 0823 Southampton to Great Malvern has switched back to Sprinter operation. Only twice has a 158 operated with the rest being covered by a 150. 150001 or 150002 have covered once or twice each week, and ex northern rail 150207 once this week.
Certainly is better then the 166s in terms of operation. 166s lose time on the line due to their slow acceleration, which in turns leads to further delays throughout the day with trains passing each other at Clifton Down. As far as I'm aware, 165s have better acceleration so will keep to time better than a 166.I see the 2-car 165's are on Severn Beach line services now. Not a good idea, if these are going to be operating weekday services, especially the busy peak time services. Standing up, and crammed in like a tin of sardines! Oh god! Looks like I'll have to walk to Clifton Down station instead of the much nearer Redland station, as there's a bit more chance of getting a seat if getting on at that station - providing I'm one of the first to board the train!

They can’t be slowed down from that oftenOnly marginally - drivetrain is identical; there’s just losses on the 166s for ever so slightly higher weight and losses from powering the AC system.
Makes sense. I understand that 166s would be worse at stop start services, such as those on the Severn Beach Line because of this.Only marginally - drivetrain is identical; there’s just losses on the 166s for ever so slightly higher weight and losses from powering the AC system.
That's very true, but at the end of the day, at least the train is running instead of being delayed or cancelled, which was the often case for 166 operation on the line because they couldn't keep to time. Their return trip and so on kept being delayed, which would've resulted in a cancellation later in the day, as sourced: https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/public-meeting-called-discuss-unreliable-1474598Well that's good. But not so good that they only have 2 carriages and less seating capacity. And oh dear, I see from the Iris website http://iris2.rail.co.uk/tiger/renderstaffsoad.asp?file=30342E.xml - that one of them is on the Severn Beach line services today, including the very busy 0716 Severn Beach-Bristol Temple Meads service. Anyone boarding after Clifton Down is going to be standing and crammed in.
And GWR made such a fuss last year when the Turbo's were introduced on the Severn Beach line services. Saying "New 3-car trains with more seating.". Now, 2-car trains are creeping back on these services!
Does anyone know what 2 car unit is working the beach today on 2K43 2003 Avonmouth to Bristol Temple Meads then on to 2E29 2041 Bristol Temple Meads - Worcester Shrub Hill?
2K43 has recently been working 2C98 2306 Bristol TM to Exeter and 3E39 has been formed off 2M60 1917 ex Taunton
