Was about to come back to that..
Hereford can currently not serve IETs as the signal is not visible enough to the drivers and this will have to be sorted before they can be cleared.

I hope you mean 9 car IETs are not cleared for Hereford, as 5 car ones have been there on multiple occassions on weekends.

I noted 800001/004 in platform 15 at Temple Meads at 1300 today, though with RTT down, could not establish what it was working.

It is not one of the booked trains but 1G60 1736 Paddington - Cheltenham is showing as load 9 tonight. Perhaps this is what the 9-car is doing instead of the 1722 to Hereford, although at the moment when 1G60 arrives at Cheltenham the ECS is shown as going to St Philips Marsh, so it is a little confusing

There is also a 5Z60 Cheltenham - North Pole in the system

Thank you for the clarification. 5Z60 to North Pole would certainly explain it but that isn't shown on realtimetrains, which I know is not the be all and end all of information (especially with the loss of the NR data feed for much of today).

I haven’t seen any operational notices or anything in the late notices to that effect but saying that I think the only services they were allocated to the last week were either Great Malvern or Worcester FS services so there could be something in it. Perhaps @JN114 has a perspective on this?

The 9s aren’t signed off for Hereford yet. Haven’t heard exactly why; but hearsay in the office matches what was posted here: signal sighting - specifically the sighting of the signals at the Newport ends of the down platforms (H57/H54 from memory) which apparently aren’t at all visible to either driver or guard from the 9 car stop marker. There’s also some unresolved issue with dispatch from staffed stations managed by ATW at present. Solutions to both are in hand; so 9s should be put on mainline and South Wales work soon enough.

They're out again today. Just paused on the up thro at Swindon before heading off towards Didcot. One engine out on 800 001. Appreciate that may be deliberate...

Hi all,

Looking to travel from Paddington to Bristol next Friday 29th on a Super off peak during the day, sometime between midday and 3PM.

Any idea which services out of Paddington are booked to be a IET?

Didn't someone post a week or two back that this date had gone back to 20th August due to delivery delay from Italy?

D1009 - I have heard similar stories in recent weeks but the plan is to start services on the dates posted. Interestingly there are no IET services planned to run to Newquay and just the one weekday diagram to Devon and Cornwall so still plenty of opportunities to ride HST’s to the west country this summer.

Does anyone know if the next two 800/3 diagrams start on Monday? One of them should involve Hereford and South Wales trains. The latter do not fit in with the current Severn Tunnel diversions, so I am guessing it may only be one extra diagram. Thank you.

Thanks, presumably these trains will be referred to as IETs, even if they are not part of the IEP contract.

Shouldn't there be another 10 car 802 Monday to Friday diagram? The one you've posted starts in London and finishes in Plymouth.

Intercity Express Train/IET is the brand chosen by GWR for the 800s and 802s, irrespective of how the two types were procured. What the average passenger will see is the same train, with the same look inside and same levels of service.

The usual diagrams are a bit shuffled at the moment with the Severn Tunnel Closure.

The 0700 was a pair of 800s on Thursday, so if I've followed Real Time Trains properly then I believe the 1200 from Paddington should be a pair (1C13).

Are those 5-car or 9-car? I sincerely hope the latter as a 5-car on a Summer Saturday to Paignton is going to be an unpleasant experience.
