The system shows it as GW13.Was it actually GW13 though, I know the TGS is 49113 but that doesn't necessarily make it GW13. Last time a regular 2+3 set operated it was called GW97.
Thank you.The system shows it as GW13.
Was it actually GW13 though, I know the TGS is 49113 but that doesn't necessarily make it GW13. Last time a regular 2+3 set operated it was called GW97.
GW97 was sliding door. The slam door sets still had the LA prefix.I think that GW97 was a slam door set, this one is definitely GW13.

Edit: or was it GW93?
Worth noting that today 43189 + 43094 operated the following regular sunday diagram:
2E38 1144 Bristol to Worcester FS
2T39 1345 Worcester FS to Bristol
2E44 1539 Bristol to Worcester FS
2T45 1752 Worcester FS to Bristol
Obviously still subject to the above.Cheers for this - at least I've not far to go from Oxford or Didcot to catch one!
And this is every Sunday is it subject to no engineering works and availability of Castle HST's?
GW12 was also due out.To the best of my knowledge a 2+3 HST operated today for the first time (as opposed to a short formed 2+4) as one of the "extra" GTi sets. It worked the 1835 Plymouth to Penzance and was GW13:- 43122, 48135, 48106, 49113 and 43088.
It now resides on Long Rock depot.
GW93 ran from 04/01/20 to 20/05/20 as a way of using spare HST stock to good advantage. It employed sliding door converted stock.Cheers for this - at least I've not far to go from Oxford or Didcot to catch one!

This has just reminded me of the fact that Richard from RAIL reported that there would be no GW12 or GW13 but that there would be GW14, 15 & 16. Lol.The system shows it as GW13.
HST-R?43153 on a HST-R today, didn't catch any other details, 11.50 Penzance - Plymouth
The 3 car, slightly faster version, as described above!HST-R?
2P12 1115 PNZ to PLY 43194 + GW02 + 43153.43153 on a HST-R today, didn't catch any other details, 11.50 Penzance - Plymouth
He wasn't wrong. There was an internal spreadsheet that showed the formations numbered as that. This has just reminded me of the fact that Richard from RAIL reported that there would be no GW12 or GW13 but that there would be GW14, 15 & 16. Lol.
But it was known at the time that there was going to be five extra sets. Surely he could put two and three together in that caseHe wasn't wrong. There was an internal spreadsheet that showed the formations numbered as that.
It was to do with allocated vehicle numbers and technical variations. There was an announcement originating from within First that 5 more were anticipated , but there was always just three extra authorised. Could be the old MOD tactic. You need 400 tanks, but you tell the Treasury you need 600 and they beat you down to 400. You get what you need and the Treasury thinks it has a victory. But it was known at the time that there was going to be five extra sets. Surely he could put two and three together in that case
Yes, out again today, 10.50 Penzance to Cardiff.2P12 1115 PNZ to PLY? 43194 + GW13 + 43153.
My mistake, GW02 not GW13. GW13 is also formed 2+3 and started on 2C65.Yes, out again today, 10.50 Penzance to Cardiff.
