Best of luck!

I passed my dmi back in feb 2020 and was placed in a talent pool for exeter st davids, so nearly a 2 year wait for me so far. Not sure how much longer the wait will be for me, but im pleased ive made it this far.

I expect reading is a much bigger depot so hopefully your wait wont be as long!

Keep us posted with the outcome of your dmi! Again, best of luck!
Frattons a small depot but it took me and a friend 9 months from application to getting a start date. It seems the larger depots can take longer from what I've seen. I did my traction courses with an Exeter guy and he knew there would be a delay until he would get a driving instructor. That was 9 months ago so hopefully the backlog is clearing/cleared at Exeter and they're in a position to start training new drivers

I have no words to say as some people have been waiting since 2019. I wish everyone's application starts to move forward and get the good news soon.

I feel extremely lucky my application has moved so quickly. During my stage one I was told I would be lucky if I get a course before July/August 2022 as others have been waiting so long.

I was also told my assessments will be valid for 5 years. So far I've only applied for GWR Reading but if the wait is too long I will apply for other TOC's. I will ask at the DMI how long I should expect to wait should I be successful.

Also my DMI is online using Zoom.

I will update soon how it went.
The speed at which you do your assessments and interviews unfortunately isn't a guide to how long you'll be in the talent pool for!
However good luck with your DMI and keep the faith. I applied for the 2019 talent pool and I started with GWR last week!

Your application moved quickly aswell.

How long have you been in the pool waiting? Did you hear anything?

I will ask about course on the 25th of January. Hopefully there is loads but during the stage one, We were told GWR need atleast 40-50 new drivers and are short due to people retiring, leaving and also not being able to run courses due to Covid-19.

The lady said earliest I would get a course is July/August 2022 if I pass DMI. You probably hear before since you have been waiting a while.

I asked for Reading, I was told they were desperately short and needed new drivers. 40-50 drivers short (not sure if its overall or just Reading) and slowed down due to Covid and social distancing rules.

It's going OK thanks - mostly corporate stuff so far although the last couple of days have been doing PTS. The rules learning starts the week after next and that's when the hard work starts!
The very best of luck. Intro to Ops? If you get stuck or need a heads up on the way to Interim 1 I may be able to help

Intro to Ops is a taster of what’s to come. Take the opportunity now to relax and not think about rules, as it’s the last opportunity you’ll get for several weeks :D

Good luck with it all!

Well out of nowhere I've suddenly had an invitation to interview after applying to the qualified pool for Gloucester in August

Any externals in the 2020 talent pool for Plymouth, past DMI, awaiting start dates?

If so any news?

Most recent correspondence indicated movement for internals only for 2022.

Interested to hear from any externals that might have heard different or already been given start dates.

I'm external and start a course on the 21st of Feb. When speaking to HR they said 1 person on the course is for Plymouth.

When did you apply if you don't mind me asking? Good to hear it's moving albeit a little slowly!

My most recent correspondence from HR was that they currently do not have any updates which is a shame but to be expected for now.

Good luck on the course!

Yea no worries. I applied in December 2018 for Exeter St David's and passed the DMI in June 2019.

A trainer at Bristol today said that there were a few courses coming through down there in the coming weeks, although didn't say what the make up was in terms of depots and whether they were internals or not.

Not sure if this info helps, but a friend of mine starts as an external for Plymouth depot on 21st Feb. He’s been sat in a talent pool since 2020.

If he going to be a depot driver or mainline? I know a while ago they had an influx for Plymouth and a lot were Depot Drivers.
