Anybody have any idea what sort of hours you work during training as a JD?

Is it classroom based to start with weekdays and weekends?

Classroom based, Mon to Fri in training school, then you'll be working with mentors booked on pilot turns. Averaging 4 to 5 days a week in training, depending on shifts.

Do you know roughly how many weeks classroom based?

Depends where you're going, as some drivers for some areas are doing full rules course, some aren't as they want juniors out driving sooner.

Full rules courses are about 10 weeks, first week is PTS and rest of the week and following week are introduction to shunting, then traction and rules.

Basic course is about 3 weeks.

Ok thanks for that,

What depot you interviewed for?
Heard anything back yet?
Interviewd for Eastleigh. Not heard anything as yet but I only attended the interview on 12 Dec.the did say I probably won’t here before the new year. Seems a bit up and down as to how soon people hear so I’m crossing my fingers!

Did I read that you have been offered a position? (So many people I lose track) :)

I was told 3-weeks classroom at my interview.
I believe if your chosen hub has a need to cross main lines in the yard work, you'll do an 8(?) week course. This is the case for Toton, and I'd guess Bescot too. That's what I heard when I had my interview.

Hi yeah I’ve been offered a position just waiting on my start date was told it will more than likely be towards the end of jan,

Seems like it’s a long process for everybody regardless of the area,
It will all be worth the wait in the end,

Good luck hopefully you get some good news for the new year then

Thanks. I’m hoping they were using the new year as a ‘worst case scenario’, and I’ll hear before then.

I had my assessment day in August and medical in December so I’m just waiting on a start date,

So it’s quite a long process I would stress about it if you haven’t been told your unsuccessful then your still in with a shout so best of luck to you

A little update for those awaiting an update for West Mids. I emailed today (the second time, I didn't receive a response to the first one back in November) and was advised that recruitment for the area is on hold, however a decision had been made on the interviews that had taken place in 2018 and I have not been successful.

I do wonder how long they've been sat on that information for and when they were eventually going to tell me, having waited 4 months with nothing but I wish the rest of you all the best! :)

That’s a shame don’t let it get you down they would have been hundreds of applicants going for the role.

Try stay positive maybe ask for some feedback see if it can help you improve interview skills or give you a better understanding of why you were unsuccessful

Sorry to hear this, keep applying to other TOCs, at least you don’t have to do any of the psychometric tests. I’m still waiting on the outcome of my JD interview. Called them the other day and was told they’d let me know ASAP as the SAM had returned from leave this week. Not holding my breath but there’s still a glimmer of hope there.

Think you went on the same day as me. Mixed feelings from the interview. They didn't give much away.
Did you apply for Eastleigh too? If so I’m a bit more reassured to know it’s not just me who hasn’t heard anything :)
