This evening, there is a direct train from Kidderminster-Bedford, departing at 17:30. It is operated by London Midland with a class 2 headcode according to RTT. What's this all about? And can I board it with a walk up from New Street to International?

Intriguing. It is timed for a 75mph sprinter so perhaps related to one of LM's three 150 units? Never seen this before however.

I fancied doing this but found out about it too late; inadequate advertising of this special service. Was excellent value too.

Didn't manage to board it, but found the sight of a trolley service onboard very amusing indeed

I only found about it when on our daily update, the person who wrote it said the train on the northbound journey had been delayed! Wish I could have gone on it as well! :(

A Marston Vale line 170th birthday special. There was talk of using a 172 at one point but that clearly didn't happen.

Theoretically that would have been harder to resource train crew wise, as both the Driver and Guard would need to be route conducted for part of the journey. A Class 150 could be worked without any route conductors. That's if it was worked by LM train crew...

The driver I spoke to at New Street was wearing London Midland uniform, he didn't mention where he had boarded the train, or how far he was taking it though.
