My brother is going to a universit open day tomorrow and just asked me what the cheapest ticket was. Can anyone help?

He is going tomorrow in the morning and will be returning tomorrow afternoon.

No rail cards etc.

Thanks
Sammy H

Not going to be the cheapest but...

Lancaster to Manchester - Off Peak Return - £16.50 - must leave Lancaster after 8:30...

Manchester to Sheffield - Off Peak Return - £16.60

£33.10, £2.10 cheaper than the Lancaster to Sheffield return

Lancaster - Leeds SDR @ £22.30 (why are there no CDRs on this flow?)

Leeds - Sheffield CDR @ £9.30

Saving £3.60.

Do you live in Lancaster itself? If getting to Preston is not significantly more difficult then its a £28 return to Sheffield from there ("via stockport"), or you might be able to split somewhere between Preston and Leeds

That saves quite a bit, but it does restrict you to slow trains between Manchester and Sheffield, so might not be ideal.
