Amazing, wasn’t sure if I passed the last test or not, but have got given the option to add proof of grades
Should be all good then.

Ok thanks. I managed to pass all 3 of them then but stuck with the supplying of the certs issue right now. Fired of an email to my old school hoping and emailed lner to let them know. Think it says i have 5 days to supply the certs.
Ah good luck! Hopefully they pull thru else it could be worth doing the functional skills course in those limited days.

I’ve got the video interview to do, any advice at all? I’ve not had to do an video interview yet. Is it going to be more focused on my competency for the job?

I would think about why you'd want the Job, relevant skills and experience relating to it, some company knowledge would be the key things.

As I thought my previous school do not hold records from back then. Lner did get back to me and said they will keep my application open. I’ve mailed them back to ask if they accept a 3 day function skills course certificate and also asked if there is any other equivalent I could do that they would accept. I’ve never personally heard of the 3 day function skills course myself.
Hopefully this problem doesn’t stop me from applying.

I’ve done my interview questions so now it’s just the wait to see what the news is. I’m assuming I won’t hear back until at least after the advert closes

what email did you use to get a response from LNER? Also the 3 day functional skills course I believe is online. Functional skills is widely used for those that need to meet the basic english and math requirement. Pretty sure they've themselves put Drivers thru the functional skills course that needed the C grade equivalents, albeit some time ago before requiring it on application specifically now.

I got through less than half and still passed.

I’ve just checked my emails form 2022 when I applied and failed the video interview, it took them about 1month to get back to me with my result.

Ahh okay, thank you. Gives me a rough idea on how long it might take, the waiting is the worst part

At each stage of the application/online assessment, if you are given the next part to do, then you’ve passed the previous part. If you get to the part where you’re asked to upload your certificates then you’ve passed all the online assessments.

what email did you use to get a response from LNER?
I used [email protected]

Thanks for that. I had a quick look online last night at functional skills courses and it seems that if it’s needed quickly then it’s quite expensive to do. I will look at the gov site and see if it can be done quickly there without cost. Also noticed that they come in levels (1, 2 etc) so have asked lner what’s needed and waiting on a reply.

You should ask the course provided which one is equivalent to a C grade for English and Math

These sort of tests are generally looking for accuracy not quantity. For example it is better to do 30 with a 90% accuracy than trying to rush through 40-45 but only get 60-70% correct.

Be careful with your video interviews, my uploads kept failing and I think I've lost out on my chance now as a result. Such a shame as I really needed this opportunity

Does anybody know if LNER do the functional skills course for trainee drivers? Or do GCSE results have to be proven during the application stage?

Oh I see. I haven’t received no access to any further tests nor have I received any email to say that I failed the test. So a bit unsure what the next process is now

Does anyone have prior experience applying for LNER as a trainee driver having already passed the national driver assessment with another TOC?

I hope so. Its my 2nd attempt, last time I completed test in jan24 and got email straight away saying I failed but this time I haven’t received any emails yet even though I didn’t complete all 50 like last time

Lner have said level 2

Going through that prob at the moment. Lner have told me they will accept skills course if cannot get hold of gcse certs. They need maths & english at level 2. They’ve told me they don’t provide the course, it’s down to applicant to sort it.

Thanks for your reply. Just a further question, was that 5 days from the initial application or 5 days after assessments? Also how long do you get before starting the assessments? Do they have to be done before the closing date on the job role does anyone know? Sorry for all the questions but I'm just working out if it's possible to slow down the process while I await certificates or if I should just wait until next time when I have everything to hand. Anyone's prior experience welcomed.

5 days from when the email was received usually from the moment you pass the third online assessement. As for each online assessement its 3 days from when you receive email to complete it.

Is there likely to be any slack on the 60 min from depot rule?

I passed the RSSB last year when applying for Freightliner and am actively looking for a role but according to google maps I am 68 mins out from the depot by car..
