I might need to make this journey on Friday evening, after 8pm, returning on Saturday in time to get a 10am train from Victoria.
I have no railcard and will be travelling solo.
So anyway, I was looking at the fares, and there appears to be an off-peak SVR return at £27.80 - which surprised me, as I wasn't expecting to find a period return on this flow.
I was actually looking at getting a ticket starting from Maidenhead as I knew that there was a period return for that flow, and that's not more than a couple of quid more expensive.
Which got me thinking. Is there likely to be an alternative flow, valid via HS1, which will allow me to either stop or start short and save me a bit of money? Or is that really not feasible?
