Has anyone heard back from London Midland following their most recent (and surprise) ad for trainee drivers in Bletchley?

Not heard anything yet, probably still going through the sift at the moment I would guess. Did you apply last time?

Yeah. I applied last year and was shortlisted for interview, but was unable to attend. Spoke to HR and they said my application should automatically be shortlisted this time around, but yet to hear anything. Howabout you?

Hi, not heard anything back yet either but not expecting it to be a quick response, just patiently waiting and keeping fingers crossed :D

I've applied for Bletchley too. How often does it come up? Last time you applied how long was it before they offered an interview? Oh and last question, does anyone know how many positions are offered? Cheers!

It's a huge depot driver wise, so as drivers shift across to Chiltern/Virgin/EMT for better work the trainee roles come up. I would imagine of all LM depots, Bletchley would attract qualifieds the least, so they go straight for trainees.

Anyone had an update yet? Does anyone know how many jobs are going? Thinking that with the recruitment drive last year, they might have enough bodies in the talent pool already? Any thoughts??

I finally heard back today and it was unfortunately a 'sorry you have been unsuccessful' etc

Hopefully some of the others of you who have applied will have had more luck.

Unlucky mate. Nice touch of you to wish others luck, and not just moan.

Good on you.

Thanks, no point in being bitter about these things, just means it wasn't meant to be at the moment, plus with so many people applying it was always going to be tough and am glad for the ones that have been successfull.

Besides...I'm hoping something comes up at Chiltern at Aylesbury as that would be much closer and would prefer driving a diesel :)

But well done to those who have got through and hope it all works out well.

Out of interest, were those who got past the sift within 25 miles of the depot? Historically, I've heard of people relocating to take a role with London Midland though I suspect for this most recent window they were after people close to Bletchley.

I also received the bad news via email, it's a shame but I'm not giving up yet!! I live outside the 25 mile radius and was willing to relocate. Good luck to all that have applied.

I'm based in Flitwick, so Bletchley isn't too far to drive. I'll second that for those that didn't get through this time. Do they give constructive feedback?

No they don't at this stage just points to consider

Ensure your answers are detailed

Think carefully about your examples; are they the best answer for the question?

Ensure you live within a 25 mile radius from the depot advertised in the vacancy at time of application.

Ensure all relevant work history is listed

Yes I have received an 'in the pipeline' email, and I live in Milton Keynes, well within the 25 miles limit. Bad luck to those that didn't make it, best of luck to those that did.

Received an invite to an assessment centre to complete stage 1. I already completed stage 1 successfully in 2013. Is my previous pass not valid anymore? I thought it remained valid for five years - or does it all depend?

They changed the assessment process in late 2013, so I suspect you sat the tests under the old process which is no longer valid.

Ahh, yes well I would have done. Thanks for that, I had better get practising the Group Bourdon Test again then!

You will indeed need to pass the tests again. Sorry for the bad news. I've had to also - both stage one and two.

Passed them mind. :D Good luck!

Well, stage 1 assessments completed... waiting to hear if I passed. The interesting thing is that due to the review of the psychometric tests at the end of 2013 the slate has been wiped clean. All failures before that date are forgotten. LM still has the DFFT in there I notice - most other TOCs have got rid of it apparently.
