Which changes would people like to happen to the Lothian network?

I'd like to see the 5 extended southwards from The Jewel to Fort Kinnaird, and the 16 routed via the Scott Monument and Leith Street.

I'd like to see the 15 take up the eastern section of the 19 with the 19 rerouted towards Shawfair (once it is built) to better fit the demands of both routes. I'd also like the 49 to change its termini in order to prove demand for doubles across the whole route

How do you propose the 19 goes to Shawfair exactly?
You've got a far greater chance of the 14 being extended out towards Shawfair station from its current terminus at the Wisp and in the process perhaps a change for Edmonstone Road in Danderhall to get a bus service back.

Whilst I think an extension to the 14 to Shawfair is very likely I think other faster services will be required as well. I propose the 19 would run from Princes Street up the bridges then along West Richmond Street and along Dalkeith Road up to the Infirmary. It would then enter Shawfair once off the A7 at Danderhall. Every 15 mins Monday to Saturday with a 30 min frequency at evenings and on Sundays. Route doesn't have to be that exactly but I'd be very surprised if no fewer than 3 services serve Shawfair, the 14 being one of those

I think it makes obvious sense to route it so that Shawfair has a service to Cameron Toll.

Personally I would like to see a bus run down Fillyside again, maybe reroute the 21 to serve Fillyside/Seafield, provide a new link for Portobello and Leith since the 25/49 already serves Craigentinny-Lochend anyway.

The way they did the 69 up Fillyside was confusing no wonder it got withdrawn after a year, give the people there a proper bus service!

Shawfair to Cameron Toll sounds like a reasonable enough market to try to provide (once there are sufficient people living int he new development), but there's no service to Cameron Toll from Niddrie these days, only a couple of buses per hour from Cameron Toll to Portobello (now the 21 has been diverted away).

How to serve Fillyside? What about co-ordinating the 12 and 49 to provide a ten minute service from Leith Walk - (12 via Leith Links, Seafield and Fillyside, 49 via Lochend) - Craigentinny Avenue - Moira Terrace - then the "69" loop (Sir Harry Lauder Road - Brighton Place - High Street). 21 runs via Wakefield Avenue instead, 19 extends to Fort Kinnaird (to replace the 49). So you'd get a co-ordinated ten minute service from the duration of Leith Walk to Portobello, a co-ordinated eight minutes service from Lochend to the end of the Jewel (on the 21/49), minimal increase in PVR... you'd just have to watch out for double deckers on the bridge under the ECML at Baileyfield Road - can't remember the height?

My idea for Service 49...
Keep the Rosewell to Infirmary section as is, but then route it via the new bus gate up to the Fort then as is terminating either at foot of Lochend Rd (turning at roundabout at foot of Easter Rd.) Or continuing via Duke Street and Great Junction St. to Ocean Terminal

Must say I'm with same on this one and prefer the new livery, the gold always made them look a tad drab but did cover the winter salt better. Major plus is the internal refresh stuff on seats though, use them on the 1 everyday and may save me from piles later in life.

Eitherway whatever bus goes goes up Fillyside (21/49) is fine since both services run via Lochend so if one of them was changed the other would stay in Lochend

Also to add onto the change suggestions, how about the 140 extending to Ocean Terminal via Portobello, Fillyside (as I suggested above), Seafield, The Shore. Providing direct links to Ocean Terminal/Seafield to Portobello, East/Mid Lothian

Just wondering if there's been any update on the introduction of contactless payment? When the 100 went contactless almost a year ago, the news article said if successful it would be introduced on the rest of network possibly within 12 months.

Interesting that they did not go down the road of replacing them with Ticketer machines like allot of other companies have.

I remember the old Edinburgh Corporation tickets in the early 1960s were a wide piece of paper fed from a roll in the machine carried by the conductor.
When our school class went to visit the one time McVities biscuit factory in Gorgie Road, the teacher asked for a single and thirty five Half's!

Wayfarer 6 machines (aka the new ones) take contactless plus I believe the tram ticketing runs of Parkeon technology so no point whatsoever in switching to another platform.

Yes, I believe that Burnley Bus Company have them, an anomaly within the Transdev empire however as I believe that all the other op's have relatievly recently upgraded to Ticketer. Interesting however that Transdev have not chosen to upgrade theirs to include contactless and Lothian are from the get go.

The latest fleetlist is available here to view:

https://goo.gl/ES1eEG

The pocket guide is out of date, this will be updated in the near future.

Feel free to share this as much as you'd like. I'm no longer in some forums so it would be nice to see it there and being used in my absence.
I would imagine there must be quite a few changes now.

It seems none of the paper timetables have actully turned up. Mind you has any poster been put up about the changes either.

I saw a poster on one bus. It had a list of routes with 'minor' alterations, including some that don't go by Leith Street, but they aren't listed on the webpage for the service changes. Hopefully they are genuinely minor.

Has anyone else noticed that bus tracker seems to go down quite a bit these days? It has also been throwing up wrong details for some bus stops saying a certain bus stops there when it does not, example is Fountainpark heading away from town said 47 and I have also seen X25 appear on there from that same stop.
