Does the error checking test come after the situational judgement one? Just wondering if you have to do both initially, or the error checking comes after if you pass the situational one

From what I've heard, it comes immediately after SJT (if you've passed), and then after the error checking comes an invite to a video interview, (if you passed).

It makes way more sense it being Preston it’s the closest to half way
Halfway isn't necessarily the most sensible place to put the depot. Look at LNER at Newcastle: in an 8:45 average day, they can do 1 round trip to London or 2 round trips to Edinburgh, and be very productive for most of their shift. If the depot was at the half way point (nearer to York), they'd only have enough time to do one round trip to either of those cities, but the amount of productive work driving in the same amount of time would be less.

In the same way, a depot at Carlisle or Crewe might be more efficient on paper than one at Preston, but I'm sure LUMO have done their sums and know what will work best with their timetable and where they're planning on stabling their fleet.

Either way, at least they won't need to pay for lodging turns. Plus I wonder if there's any room for the Stirling depot to work LUMO's existing Edinburgh - Kings Cross services as far as Newcastle, or on their proposed extension to Glasgow? It might be more efficient than their current arrangements using Newcastle based crews for all services.

once again the job alerts being absolutely useless :s

just a heads up to avoid disappointment if you don't have a mic/webcam: there is a one-way video interview after error checking.

I reckon only Preston drivers would sign the whole route with London and Stirling only going as far as Preston.

Agreed. But that might not make for the most productive diagrams. It's too far to do two trips in a day, but not that long a day for a single trip. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with.

Don’t want this to turn into something for a new thread but How does working for open access compare to working for a TOC? I don’t think lumo is part of the RPS or you get the benefits such as priv and FIP?

You do get priv rate travel with Lumo and boxes for other First group tocs.

From my past experience of working for Lumo on board before moving to a toc, it was fine, I have nothing bad to say about them.

The Lodge turns were fine and again from my own experience management were nothing but nice to me.

Part of advert says Defined Benefit pension, and another part says Defined Contribution! So not gonna be RPS but as to which else??? Id guess at DC but someone who works or has worked there may shine some light on that

Out of curiosity, does anyone know (or even an educated guess) how many they are looking for? For each of the three depots?

it’s hard to tell but the last time they did something like this seems to be when they first launched back in 2021 where they bought on 16 drivers from their apprenticeship:

from all the new information on expansion i can imagine it’ll be a lot more this year!

OK, I've done those online tests (the error checking one was fun) and now I need to do an online interview. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes, but needs must. I feel like a right plum!

Working while booked pass does that count towards your hours ? not sure what ASLEF will say about that.
If that was true ASLEF would have something to say about it, seeing as Lumo as had recognition for over a year.

This is a myth that has been debunked on so many occasions on this forum now that I'm stunned it is still doing the rounds
Because people don't listen? ... I can't believe it either! A driver at Lumo has NEVER been rostered to work on a train other than to drive it, if a driver is pass and you choose to help the onboard staff out, thats upto you. But you'd NEVER get rostered it.

I guess I failed then I did two of the test but didn’t get a video interview
Sorry you didn't get the video interview invite. It comes through in sequence after the error checking test. Sounds like you nailed the multiple choice test but not the error check.

Did anyone by chance manage to get the dates of the application steps that were published on the job advert? I forgot to make a note of them and since the advert is closed I cannot refer to it!

interesting that they state 2 interview dates. Never known there be 2 internal interviews for a train driver role. Also no mention of a medical. .
