What about the subway at MCO for use when they did the lifts?

Does anybody else remember the (staff access) subway which ran from outside the entrance to Stratford station to the diesel depot?

Used it in the early 1970s. Cannot visualise it now - hardly surprising given the changes in that area! !

On a general point subways were probably more useful when the railway moved large volumes of parcels and mails.

Remember it well. Did a survey through it back in the early 90s. Seem to remember it had a couple of dog legs in it with some strange rooms leading off it.

Much later worked over a christmas at Stratford installing the northern extension of the western subway. Track, ballast and ground removed, new subay section jacked in and everything put back. Trains back running as scheduled.

Darlington Bank Top retains its tiled subway as the only means of access to the platforms from the Clock Tower entrance. The ramp and steps coming up to the platforms are surrounded by some fine railings and a lamp arch.

Durham has a pseudo-subway, which is essentially a raised, wooden, felt-covered platform running alongside the road access which tunnels under the platforms to give access from the up (city) side of the station to the down (Wharton Park) side.

With every passing passenger, the thing feels more and more likely to give way - although this webpage on an architect's website suggests that it may be about to get some 'mood' lighting to illuminate the collapse more fully, when it comes:
