More 777 problems today (1 January 2024).
10:35 Liverpool Central to Headbolt Lane announced as cancelled due to fault on train.
then the next departure from Liverpool Central, 10:47 to Ormskirk was failed in the platform - seemed to be a problem with the doors of 777.007. Passengers turfed off, and train eventually departed e.c.s. -- presumably to Kirkdale, but nothing shown on RTT.

Yes, it was 4TPH on the Kirkby line prior to Headbolt Lane/777 introductions. They're slowly building back to this, increasing from 1 to 2 to 3, 4 will return "soon"...

Ironically the last of the 4tph to get introduced on the Headbolt Lane line would be the one best suited to connect with the northern service both ways (at a quick glance of RTT)

How quickly are the new Cl. 777s being introduced?

What would be the chances of their being on the Chester-Liverpool services next Sunday, 7th January?

They’re on all lines. The minority on Southports but the majority on everything else. All Chesters are booked 777 so you’ve got a very, very good chance.

This is my main issue, my nearest station is Pemberton, and I used to get the Northern service to Kirkby and change, but now I'm driving to Kirkby down the M58 as I don't fancy waiting 30 mins at Headbolt Lane for the 777 to arrive... here's hoping the 4 tph will arrive soon.

777002 dumped on Platform 7A at Chester this afternoon, shut down cold and dark. Unsure what's up with it, showing on Traksy as 5C33, 2C33 cancelled due to a "problem with the train"

An unknown 777 has failed in a tunnel between Green Lane and Birkenhead Central.

ℹ️ Due to signalling issues near Hamilton Square, services on the Wirral line are facing disruption.

Rail replacement bus services are being arranged to run between Rock Ferry & Birkenhead North - Moorfields.

Trains from Headbolt Lane are now at xx11 xx26 and xx41. Services today were being operated by 777146/48/52. 777150 was noted on the depot behind Kirkdale Station.

Wierd ?. Why would a 777 have its pickup shoes not already lowered there ?. I mean is it not only the Headbolt Lane stretch where pickuo shoes might be raised ?.

Or do the pickup shoes get raised and lowered depending on which side of the train the third rail is (so quite a lot of raising and lowering) ?.

I've no idea to be honest. That's what is said in the internal emails from Merseyrail Control anyway. I believe the train was having issues and the driver was attempting a reset. Maybe resetting it involves raising the shoes off the juice or something. I'm guessing the shoes can be raised on the 777/0s for when running around depots on the shunting batteries or something too. This isn't the first time it's happened to a non-battery unit - one of the ones that failed on approach to Sandhills a few weeks aho had the same issue and had to be rescued by a fleetmate.

Problems with 777002 on the Wirral Line this morning. Conversations between the guard and driver at a couple of stations and now all booted off at Hamilton Square at 0845.

Is there any indication when the remaining units will arrive in the UK? Also is there any indication when the units that haven't been commissioned yet but within the UK will enter traffic?

From Merseyrails Twitter this morning -

"Due to a train fault, some services on the Ormskirk line face cancellations or alterations to service."

"Due to train faults, services on both the Chester & Ellesmere Port lines face cancellations or alterations to service."

Also a tweet to them from a passenger regarding a 777 having a station overrun at Bebington today.

"Disappointing that the 7.39 overshot the platform at Bebington and then left. Lots of people late for work today...." with a photo of a 777 stopped 50% off the platform.

777016 running today with one of the end-carriage doors out-of-use. You can definitely feel how slowing this is at busy stations when the entire front carriage has to go into the second car to get off.
