Another station with unused platforms that is in my mind will be Springburn after the May timetable change.
At present, the Dalmuir/Balloch via Queen Street low level services start from/terminate in P3 or 4 (the terminal platforms), with the Queen Street high level to (what's it called?) Cumbernauld/Falkirk Grahamston services using the through P1 and 2.
Both of these services will be combined together when the electrification works are complete, with trains reversing in P1 towards Dalmuir and P2 to Cumbernauld.
With the exception of one or two peak hour services, this will make both P3 and 4 largely redundant in the normal service pattern. However, there may be scope for regular use again in the future should if Glasgow Crossrail gets up and running (My thoughts and fantasies anyway).

I think this is a temporary thing to release some capacity during rebuilding of Queen Street. When that is complete the through trains from QS to Cumbernauld should resume.
