Nene Valley Fletton Loop

Spotted this the newly purchased Fletton loop is now in use.

Are they running trains on the branch during the diesel gala in May ?
The Swedish railbus would be ideal for this.

The railcar is out of gauge for the fletton branch. I think they are going to run brake van rides tho.

NVR used to carry out track maintenance on the branch. During my time as a guard on there i was one of the few passenger guards that signed for the Fletton Loop - most notable working being the 'Elizabethan' in 1994.

NVR staff also used to shunt trains at the Sugar Factory sidings which were collected by the Peterborough 'pilot'. The odd charter / loco move made its way around the loop as did the Saturday only shuttle from Peterborough (North); can't remember when this ceased exactly - but it did survive into the sprinter era.

Another piece of railway history was the signal gantry that stood near to the old Hotpoint factory - used by BR for eyesight testing drivers

I travelled on the Hastings Diesels Charter train last year over that connection from the Main line to the NVR, it was a good day out on the HDL & NVR, (they did extra mail van rides at the other end of the line)
