I made a post about the open acess operator that wants to run between Yeovil & Oxford via Swindon.

I dont know what to make of it although i supose it would be a good idea although i would like to know where they plan on getting the rolling stock unless they intend to purchase some brand new DMU'S

also have there been any regular passenger workings between Yeovil Jct & Yeovil pen mill?

A new Open Acces Operator? http://www.go-now.coop/
I just had a very quick look at their prospectus, and it seems that they are/were offering foundation investment opportunities for £500,- and up. :)

I'm no investor, and - As a provident society - The investment isn't protected under the usual rules (Therefore it's potentially high risk)...But if one were to invest in this TOC, might that lead to additional fringe benefits (I'm thinking mainly free travel etc) for shareholders on top of any money made on the investment? :?:

The Devon and Cornwall one has been in planning for a while, part of IowaPacific railways I think. The paths for them are in planning now and they fit ok between FGW and XC.

Never heard of this Go! proposal though, havent heard of any propostions for paths, rolling stock, track access agreements or anything. Id like to see them get into Oxford without a lot of hassle, and Id bet FGW will love the revenue abstraction from Westbury, Chippenham and Swindon. May have to have a little dig about this one tomorrow...

I can't help but think that a longer route from Weymouth to (say) Banbury might be more successful.

I would second that. But Weymouth just wouldn't work in my opinion. Linking the two Yeovil stations would be a great benefit to all concerned; if the line doubling allows it, I would suggest running to Exeter St David's. As for the northern end, I would suggest terminating somewhere between Banbury and Nuneaton, or possibly Stratford-upon-Avon. But I honestly can't see this working. And I'm sure that the people of Didcot would love seeing their western chord used with no benefit to them...

I don't suppose this is an early April 1st is it?

I get that feeling too TDK, just not convinced by it.

They say they aim to get £250,000 by Dec 09..im guessing in this recession that hasn't happened?

Correct me if I am wrong.

Sorry, but in my humble honest opinion, this totally sucks! Gotta be an April 1st joke, it looks soooo good to be true. Had a read of the website, no way is this for real, no way an Open Access TOC can run under the conditions they're saying.:lol::lol::lol:

The Devon one is for real, as new owners, British American Railway Services, brought Dartmoor Railway back in Sep 2008, & they laid out their plans when they first took over the line. Good luck to them I say, I reckon it'll work.

Yep, and they've been Emailing me (through transport activities in the South West I somehow made my way onto their mailing list). I asked them about track access agreements and they seemed deadly serious.

'The Planner' if you can dig up anything this would be much appreciated.
