Hi guys, Im Mark and Im 29 years old,

On jan I passed the 1st part of the Train Driver Assessment.
I sat 4 tests in total which I passed.
I found the SCAAT test a little tougher than the Group Bourdon.

However, I now have to attend the 2nd part of the assessment process in Watford in order to take the DTG and then if I pass I'll have my structured interview in the afternoon.

Im looking for some advice on getting through both the DTG and interview if some of you more experienced people could offer any.

I was told that playing BOP IT! is a good way or getting ready for the DTG.

I have played the Game so much I am now able to complete all the levels.
Will Bop it really help me in the real test?

also is the interview really tough?

any advice would be greatfully received.

thanks in advance

Mark

Just a suggestion, remove your name from the post. Walls have ears. And I know someone who swears bop-it helped him!

Now if 150222 can edit his chop and paste we are sorted.

It's more that they may view it with suspicion, we have signs up everywhere at work (also FirstGroup) telling us to be careful when using t'net not to post anything about the railway that might cause any eyebrows to be raised.

Hi Mark. Congratulations for getting so far! Yes, BopIt will definitely help you, I didn't get anywhere near as far as you on the game but I passed the assessment centre. Just remember to keep your cool on the day and you'll be fine. Keep us posted about your progress and good luck!

Thanks for the vote of confidence,
I will post up my progress. I am quite concerned about the structured interview.

I have felt quite comfortable with the whole process up till now, Now im starting to panic

The Northern Rail structured interview was based on real life experiences, not what you know about the company (which was the initial manager interview for me). Just remain calm and focused and don't be afraid to ask for clarification if you are unsure.

I thought I'd mucked my interview up but you may be pleasently surprised! If not, you now know what to practice for next time!

There's a game called simple Simon where you respond to flashing lights in an increasingly difficult sequence which is supposed to help

Used to play that years ago myself, but I do think the BopIt or computer games as mentioned on other threads are more appropriate these days in my experience. However, the Bopit doesn't have the flashing lights. Another suggestion is to have someone sitting behind you, switching lights on and off, clicking, ringing bells. Not sure how effective that is...
