Really winds me up when they dodge out of a 30-59 delay repay by saying the train was only 29 minutes late according to the data which may be true but my cancelled service would have very likely arrived at least a minute if not a couple of minutes earlier too so on the ground it was still 30 minutes to me! (the timetables on my particular route seem cleverly designed to create this :32 and :58 for example rather than :32 and :02 although I'm sure it isn't someone evil working in the timetable department

Not just a Northern thing but the difference is their compensation offering a freebie ticket for 30 and above which is far superior to a couple of quid refund on the ticket value!
