I know i'm just giving extra information
Extra information which is incorrect. As various posts above explain, run-round facilities are available at Bog Hall, just outside Whitby station, so it is not necessary to run T&T although sometimes (as per Ploughman's post) they do so for operational convenience.

I mean when a NYMR train meets a charter a battersby they've t+t in that case as there is no room to run round at Battersby

That's not correct either!

It's a damn sight easier to run round at Battersby than Whitby!

What is it with this forum, and people insisting on posting half understood rubbish as facts? (Not singling you out Mr Class 50).

Location
Near where the 3 ridings meet
With charters or other specials it sometimes happens that the train will be T+T.
Often this is due to the amount of reversals that may be included on the route.
This applies all over the country and not just to services on the NYMR / Esk Valley.
