From what I can recall, the tilt on Pendolinos mechanically is up to 6 degrees. Of course, with the cant, the overall will be more in places.

Between Euston and the Midlands, there are a few high speed sections of 125EPS. The route via Weedon is I believe through Rugby (though you'll be slowing for the flyover to Birmingham) and after coming off the flyover there is a short section of 125EPS.

Through Berkhamsted I believe could well be 125EPS and a section of full tilt too

As for 9/11 car, I'm afraid I can't help with that.

Hope you enjoy the trip :)

I believe most of Watford-Weedon is 125mph on the Fast Lines for tilt-enabled stock (i.e. a Pendolino or Voyager), there's a couple of variations on that but nothing below 110mph IIRC. After Kilsby it's 125mph again to Rugby andf Coventry, where it falls to maximum 100mph ~ to International then slower into New St.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
there isnt a 13:30 from euston to birmingham. if you mean the 13:30 from new street to euston it is a voyger.

Could have been a typo on behalf of the OP as I believe Virgin Birmingham trains leave Euston at xx03, xx23 and xx43.

I thought tilt was 8 or 9 degrees on 390s? And 6 on 221s?

Before seeing this I did wonder if I'd got the numbers muddled again. It could well be 8 degrees - I seem to recall there being 2 degrees between Pendos and Voyagers tilt capability.

Also fairly certain there is a 125EPS after Birmingham Int and the flyover as I recall watching the lineside boards between New St and Rugby on the way home after meeting up with someone in Birmingham a year or so back. Easyish to do from a slower 350 with windows :P

125 after Kilsby tunnel until just before Cov and then 110 to International then 100 to about Adderley Park.

And if it is Euston to Birmingham (not the other way around) you won't be slowing for the Rugby flyover as it only applies for trains from Birmingham/Coventry to Euston :D

It's pretty well full 125 tilt from Wembley to Coventry, with a few dips to 110 (Watford and Kilsby Tunnel).
Most impressive bits for tilt are Berkhamsted, Wolverton, Weedon and Rugby (northbound).
But you'll be stopping at Rugby...

Oh yeah - I had forgotten about that! I used to travel MK to Manchester semi-regularly for a year and that bit was great! Tilt one way, dip, pass under the up line (IIRC), tilt the opposite way pretty much immediately and come back up. Used to hate when we got signal checked through the area!

I wish the northbound Birmingham trains would get signal checked through Rugby sometimes: I increasingly feel, with every journey, that the junction for the Birmingham line is not really up to coping with 125mph trains passing over it, yet many West Coast drivers seem to cruise up the two track section of the WCML through the Watford Gap only to then really give it the beans through that junction to ensure that everyone is thrown sideways as we hit the points, and then ease off again for the inevitable slow run through Coventry and the West Midlands...
