Just read about this on the BBC News site
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-17001548

American singer and actress Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48, her publicist Kristen Foster has said.

The cause and the location of her death were unclear, Ms Foster told the Associated Press news agency.

Regarded as one of the most celebrated female acts of all time, she also enjoyed success acting in films such as The Bodyguard and Waiting to Exhale.

Her career was at times overshadowed by drug use and her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.

Yeah, I saw a very similar article on another site too which I found via Google. I would consider it is very relevant. Naturally, the details will be made public in due course I would think, but one can't help but wonder if this had any bearing.

Either way though, 48 is still fairly young

Very sad news. Such a talent, and astonishing how her life was ruined so quickly. So young as well. =[

The last time I saw her was on X Factor and she was an absolute mess. Very, very sad.

I'll echo the comments already made, very sad and a shock too. Being at school in the late 80s and big into the charts/music scene at the time, and always saw her as one of the top female artists with a string of Top 10 hits. My favourite has to be "I wanna dance with somebody", number 1 in summer 1987.

RIP - but just like with Michael Jackson, anyone who didn't see this coming is blind...

What a waste of a life.

Thats fantastic, it was such a shock and a huge loss.

XCDriver... thats not the drugs,.thats what happens when you fall in love with a pig and can`t see what he is doing to you because he does not want you to be a star, he wants that position.

The radio has been swamped with her songs all day. On the local radio between 09:00-10:00, the hour was dedicated to her.

I hear they had a minutes silence at the Wales rugby game today in honour of Witney and her famous song about two gay Welshmen.
And Dai will always love Huw

Following the shelving of plans to build a new station in Oxfordshire, London Midland cancel their decision to run an express service to London.

RIP Witney-Euston

Yet another case of a drug addled celebrity death being given all the fuss that Princess Diana had.
A talented voice for sure, but considering the material she worked with,a waste of that talent. She didn't so much sing songs as perform them.
Won't be missed.

Great voice, but another one who couldn't stay off the drugs long enough to use it. Anyone remember that X-Factor performance when she was blatantly out of her tree? And yes, the outpouring of grief has gone a little too far.......

Whilst I feel sorry for her and her family, people die all the time. I find it hard to understand such an outpouring of grief when her main contribution was just being able to sing in tune.

In fairness Ralph, that's more than some 'singers' today can manage!:)
