Hi everyone, I'm a qualified driver with an FOC. I have a mate who has applied for the scotrail vacancies. He has passed the online assessment and passed the telephone interview, he's been told to keep checking his emails for the classroom assessment date. Now I know some tests have changed since I took mine (2012) but was wondering if anyone knew what tests are left for him? Am I right in saying that first don't do the mechanical comprehension test? Also is the telephone interview the same as the managers interview? Thanks for your help

Hi guys,

New to this site. Just thought id let people know that ive been contacted to attend the assessment day following successful application and telephone interview stages. So it doesn't seem to be on hold just now as some people have suggested?

Good luck to all the people attending and well done to those who have come this far already ??????

Jim thats when i done mine aswell, keep positive! I know they said it can be up to 4 weeks, maybe worth giving them a ring towards the end of the week. Wont do any harm to ask how you have done?

Hey guys

I got a phone call today telling me to look out for details of the assessment centre. Got an email through for assessment centre on the 5th of February. Some of the tests look quite tricky. Does anyone know if the assessment day includes interviews or are you invited back for that?

I got an email and a call today as well, booked in for my assessment day on the 29th at 12pm, some of it looks really tough! Lots of prep, practice and I'll go in head first and do my best :)

I did the assessments before xmas with a FOC. Split in 2 stages. The telephone interview is similar to the MMI, the MMI was more intense. DMI was more informal.

Just called first,I have passed online assessments but because of high volume of applicants, the higher scored applicants get phone interview first. Depending on how they get on will determine whether I get phone interview or not. Should here by email one way or the other in couple of weeks.

Excuse my ignorance but what are 'gateline jobs'?
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
I called them the other day and received an email shortly afterwards. They said I will be contacted within the next two weeks.

I'm unsure whether this means I've passed the on-line assessment or not. Surely if I had failed I would have been contacted quite quickly to let me know 'thanks but no thanks'?

Got a train pass in the post today from first taking me from my front door to Glasgow for the assessment! Always had to make my own way to interviews before! Nice surprise!

Well I received an email just now informing me I wasn't successful even although I passed the on-line assessment. What I don't get is someone on here said they were told by HR they're starting at the highest scorers and working their way down the list. This can't be right because I have a program on my PC that recorded my assessment and I went back through it afterwards and found I got all questions correct!

Maybe they didn't like something on my application although I can't think what. I did have something on my criminal record five years ago but that's spent but I declared it anyway. maybe that's where I went wrong.

Aw well maybe next time.

Congratulations to all that got through.

Me too guys, received the email this afternoon.

I guess with the number of applications they receive, their shortlisting process is less 'formulaic' than you might expect for other jobs.

That is a good tip to record your assessment for playback - I didn't think to do anything like that.

Best of luck to everyone who got through.

Yes I got the dreaded email too today even though I passed the online assessments, just shows how popular these jobs are.
Well done to those who progressed and all the best!!

Thats a shame guys, all you can try and do is re-apply. Who knows whats gonna happen when the new franchise starts, could be looking for a load of new drivers. Stay positive, you might have done nothing wrong and it could be the sheer volume of applicants thats effected your chances. Thanks for the messages of good luck, i'll be giving it my best shot!

Been going hell for leather for days on the GBT

I 'think' I'm doing okay! I've probably doubled my output in terms of amount of cells and halved my omissions/errors

Overall Statistics:
-------------------

Perception & Attention:

Targets Omitted ------------ 2
Marked Incorrect ----------- None

Speed:

Total Cells ---------------- 1351
Mean Cell Time ------------- 0.280
Median Cell Time ----------- 0.230

Completed Rows ------------- 52
Mean Row Time -------------- 6.997
Median Row Time ------------ 7.040

Vigilance:

Row Fluctuation ------------ 2.73

First of all: stop doing it on computer, print some sheets out and practice on paper, the real test is currently always on paper.
Aim for no omissions and no incorrectly marked, that's your priority, not speed.

Seem to be getting similar results on paper so far, I marked one incorrect though but managed to correct it by crossing it out, sounds a bit silly but does that go down as marked incorrectly or not as I noticed and corrected it? Says on the prep materials that if you mark one incorrect you can cross it out to make it an X rather than a / ??

I done the online tests at the start of Dec then got the email saying thanks but no thanks I was a bit confused cos I only got one question wrong, On here I was told very bluntly that I failed. Well done Argyll68 on logging ur assessments......

Passing all the tests doesnt guarantee you get offered a job, plenty guys on here last year will tell you that.......

I still doesnt understand why they advertised the jobs when they probably have a suitable amount of candidates sitting in a talent pool, the HR dept seem to work in mysterious ways

Hi Scottg17
I don't think u would be marked down for putting a X. Not sure tho. I am getting 3 to 4 omitted with 9 rows each sheet.
Also do u reckon if it's only stage 1 on 29th or is it if we make thru first stage then we sit 2nd stage on the very same day.
