Rocky they are looking at starting the 2nd batch of drivers at the end of July so probably look to get u in next week ot the beginning of the next. Good luck mate

Not sure hardie, I just stumbled across the job when I was job hunting and luckily enough there was still vacancies, just keep checking and hopefully something comes up for you! Good luck

Gav I did hear the woman mention your name yesterday - I was probably the youngest in the room. Hopefully I have age on my side though as without being disrespectful, some of the guys there yesterday were older.

I was the morning Senshi. I would defo go for this option again for the next stage, get it over with first thing.

Think I was the youngest in the afternoon, chose that option so I had sufficient time to wake up, get ready and get some brain fuel in me before I started, seemed to work for me! Congrats again might see you at the next stage!

Yeah you are right, there was a good mix of ages. I was prob somewhere in the middle. Next stage we will be in all day I reckon, as long as you pass the computer tests as you go. Not looking forward to them! Good luck to anyone on this doing assessments tomorrow..

I did notice yesterday that there were only 4 computers in that room. I am womdering now if there will more than one room or quite a few sessions.

A few of Strathclyde's finest in amongst todays wannabe candidates plus a couple of others wearing jeans/polo shirt/unshaven - dont know if FSR take this into consideration???



<sigh> They will absolutely take this into consideration - with so many applicants for every job they will use any means to whittle down the numbers. Won't affect test results but if 2 equal candidates are sent for interview it will most definately have been be noted who made the effort. No effort at the recruitment stage = no effort in the job - or at least thats the way it is looked at.

I apologise if this has been asked before. To set alerts for trainee driver on the First website, I have selected Glasgow central/train driver/permanent. Is this correct as I couldn't find a specific trainee application. Thanks for any help, James

Not entirely sure james, that may lead to job alerts for fully qualified drivers but don't quote me on that, when I applied it specifically stated 'trainee train driver' - I've heard from a few people that these opportunities only come up once or twice every 2 or 3 years, I know that before these positions came up that it was 2 year ago the last vacancies arose, bear in mind this is only my first attempt at applying so maybe someone who has applied or kept an eye out for trainee jobs could give a little more information!

Thanks Senshi. That's what I thought, as a trainee wouldn't be station specific! I must be missing something!

When I applied it did ask what stations we would prefer, Glasgow Central or Edinburgh Waverly, I selected GC for both options as I live in glasgow so it is station specific so to speak, all I can pressume ois that the way you've done it would be for openings for qualified drivers. Hope you see the trainee jobs soon as stated before I have no idea of how often these jobs arise, good luck in the job search!

Just a wee update people, booked in for stage 2 assessment center on the 26th June @ 1pm, didn't get notified by email so check your account on the firstgroup website to get booked in if you haven't already done so!
