well done on getting to that stage of the process, do you have any info on the 2nd part, which I think is the DMI, not got a date yet but passed the first assessment on Friday, going to start researching the company and not In for any particular depot, so just wondering if you could help with anything I should maybe expect, thanks in advance if your able to help.
Or if anyone else could maybe send a message with any help aswell, thanks.

You get 3 weeks of cab turns back at your depot which is split up throughout your time at the Training Academy. You may also get more weeks of cab turns depending on driver trainer availability at the Academy. Number of trainees, trainer availability and classroom availability all determine whether extra weeks of cab turns are required ie; no driver trainer then you're back at your depot doing can turns. Trainee drivers at my depot are on 3 weeks worth of additional cab turns due to no trainers being available for their traction training.

Hey everyone, not wanting to jump the gun ahead of my assessments but I am quite paranoid about my eyesight standard as it +5.25 and +5.75. I already have a safety critical job with Network Rail and read somewhere that the maximum corrective lenses for farsightedness is +5.00 for train drivers. Does anybody have any experiences or information about this?

These seem to be the standards RIS-3451-TOM Iss 1, "Maximum corrective lenses: hypermetropia + 5/myopia -8, (derogations may be authorised in exceptional cases and after having obtained the opinion of an eye specialist, the recognised doctor then takes the decision)"

So my understanding would be that with +5.25 and+5.75 you'd fail to meet the standard and be relying on being an exceptional case, whatever that may entail.

Yeah this is what is worrying to me, although and this is the interesting part is that when I undertook the Snellen eyesight test for my current role, I passed pretty well unaided but rely on my glasses to read close up.

I'm not too sure , but I think I remember reading somewhere about exceptional cases. If my memory serves me right , I think I read that say a driver had some deterioration , they may take into account the route knowledge etc. Could be wrong , but it is something swimming in my subconscious.

It was completely unexpected and I'm now feeling more and more nervous as the day approaches.

Theres no low bowler's. Literally as it says on the tin. Revise the practice sheets and get a good nights rest is my advice bud.

Hi I received the same email as you inviting me to the assessment centre on the 25th, I applied in May last year as well. When I read the email its states that I will only be sitting 3 tests on the day. Hope this helps

The first part is assessment tests which include group bourdon etc. If successful at this stage, then you will be invited to a DMI, then lastly MMI. That is certainly how it went for me! Hope that helps!

On 2nd assessment you turn up first thing u do is a questionnaire on the computer not a test ... then u move onto the tests all is explained then u sit all 3 test in a row first one was the flashing square then the photos that flash up on screen then the joy stick test .....after that if u pass you get say 10-15 min break get told if u pass or fail then if good news you stay and get the mmi interview this is 6 questions u get asked u pre fill the answers to the questions then a member of hr goes over then with u mmi is the easy part if u pass the test ur as good as in

Dmi is a different day. I was invited for mine about a week or so after 1st assessments.
