I successfully sat my 1st assessment at atrium court on 29th July. Has anyone else who was there that day progressed past getting the email confirming that you passed?

3 months now and while I know they're snowed under, it's a long silence!

Sat mine on 16th July and got an email 17th July advising I had met the standard on all tests. Here I am still waiting for that DMI date…. Although I have since accepted a job offer from Network Rail, so their loss is the way I see it. I have no doubts they’re hardly short on candidates, so they won’t care anyway

For reference I applied for ScotRail March 24 and sat tests July 24 with no further progress. At Network Rail I applied April 24, done tests and interview May 24 and a job offer October 24. Although still slow, that is relatively fast for the railway.

ScotRail will eventually get back in touch, just a matter of patience now unfortunately. Everybody’s journey is unique to them, with some on here doing stage 1 and it then moving fast to DMI and stage 2, whilst others (like ourselves) have been patiently waiting what seems an eternity. GL when you get the chance anyway.

It's no wonder you went for the network rail option. Out of curiosity, is the salary similar?

Eternity does seem a good word to use for this. But I suppose good things come to those who wait, I'm just glad I already have a job in the mean time.

Hi, does anyone know what the craic is regarding the Disclosure? They haven't asked me to apply for it, so is Scotrail organising it?

I messaged you back privately, but if you never got it then yeah, the salary is very similar. £55k base salary with £10/£15k added on just for working your normal rota due to Sunday’s as OT and nightshift allowance. Can’t turn that kind of opportunity or money down, and the rota is far better IMO too.

Hopefully good things do come to those who wait and you hear back shortly.

Hi, when I was notified that I had been successful I got a few emails from Matheus, these included a right to work, references and disclosure form application. You need to pay for it yourself and then they reimburse you when you start

Double checked attachments and for links within attachments, no Disclosure. Only mention about disclosure and references is on the 1st letter, which is unclear whether they sort or me. Nothing re references either...filled all the forms out within 24 hrs, now starting to worry. Have already emailed about it, sent another this morning

Regarding Disclosure Scotland you have to arrange this to be done prior the start date. There is a fee to pay when applying, however it will be reimbursed.
Follow the steps online, it's straightforward.
Once you get the certificate delivered by post to your home address, scan it and send a copy to them.

Regarding references you should provide them with two, include phone numbers and email addresses.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for that, is it the Basic Disclosure? I'm just going to apply directly to them

Hi
I’ve got my second assessment day coming up (computerised tests and MMI interview)

I was just trying to gauge the difficulty of the computer tests if anyone has any thoughts or insights into this it would be much appreciated!

Hi
I would say give the practice tests and MMI equal study time . I just did my 2nd attempt, passed the computer tests but failed the MMI, which is one of the most difficult interviews I have ever done, DMI much more laid back and informal.
The hardest computer test in my opinion was the photographs, I bought the practice tests and it really helped me, but it means nothing if you don’t pass the MMI
Hope this helps

I have recently conducted and passed the computerised assessments and MMI. I am just waiting on my medical. Don’t worry about the computerised assessments. You’ll do all three within an hour.

The black squares assessment is about concentration and lasts 30 minutes so make sure you’re comfortable. There is a cheat mode. If someone next to you has started the test seconds before you, listen for them clicking. If they click, you know a black square is coming. If they click but you don’t see anything, you know that have messed up.

The picture assessment isn’t too bad. All the pictures are of a traffic scene. There will be a “beep” to indicate a picture is coming which will last about 1.2 seconds. Each picture will be different and you will be required to lookout for
Pedestrians
Motor vehicles
Motor bike/bicycles
Signs
Traffic lights
When each picture appears, just say what you see in your head. If you do that, you’ll have a better chance of remembering what you saw.

The third assessment is the joy stick. This is judging your hand-eye coordination. Left joy stick moves left and right. The right joy stick moves up and down. I can’t remember how many you have to do, but with each one you complete, you do get better. The joy sticks are sensitive and the red dot which you have to navigate does have a mind of its own sometimes but it’s how you react to that and when the red dot goes out the area which you are judged on.

The MMI is a breeze. With this you’ll be asked about 6 situations for which you have experienced. You need to give an example for each. Don’t write too much, just a brief outline. You’ll then be asked a series of questions for each experience. These are generated from the situational judgment test you did before the assessments. The key is to relax. You’ll be in a 1-1 interview. It’s all relaxed and just take your time. There is no rush. Mine took 2 hours with the amount of questions asked.

And lastly, Good luck.

The joy stick one is the one that’s bothering me because there’s no real way of actually practising it, heard mixed reviews of people finding it ok and people finding it really difficult!

With the joy stick, it’s does sound daunting. It’s not as bad as it sounds though and you do get better as you do more of them on the day. They do say it’s about speed and accuracy but I don’t think it is. It how you react when the red dot glitches or goes out the area that you’re judged on in my opinion. If you like playing the Xbox or PlayStation, you shouldn’t have much of an issue. I think the reason why people find it difficult is because both joy sticks have their own motion but if you crack that then you should be fine too. You will go out the area, but don’t worry, just react by getting the red dot back in the area quickly

I only wish the MMI was a breeze , I felt it was anything but, but that’s just my experience
I have heard others say it is very informal , laid back , easier than DMI
I think it all depends on who does the interview

Its on Tuesday
Right ok. There isn’t a great deal of practise you can do with this but as long as you have some sort of idea of what to expect, you won’t get caught out and panic. If you take on the advice I gave, you should do great. That’s the advice I was given so thought I would pass this on.

Good luck for Tuesday

Hi,

I applied in March 2024 - Received Met Standard Required Email May 2024 & Have heard nothing since.

Emailed Recruitment and they just advised they are working through 1000's of applications.

Hard not to get disheartened - is anyone else in the same boat from Glasgow / Lanarkshire Area.

Hi guys. Kept an eye on the forum for a while but decided to sign up and post today. Applied for west area earlier in the year. My last correspondence was an email in April to say that I had met the standard required and would hear from them ‘shortly’.

My concern is my online account in the careers section of their website. Before I could sign in and it would say that I had an application ‘under consideration’. Now when I try to log in it’s telling me that my password is incorrect. It 100% isn’t incorrect as it’s saved on my phone and automatically populates. When I click on ‘forgot password’ it tells me that they’ll send me a link if my email address exists on their system. I’ve not had an email after clicking this.

My concern is it feels like my account has been wiped from their system. And if this is the case then has my application been terminated? Is anyone else in the same position where your account appears to have just vanished?

Hi,

I gave my log in a check and its working ok. I think even if your application was wiped you would still be able to login so hopefully just a glitch. You have probably checked but possibly you link is in your junk?

It definitely isn’t in my junk mate. This is the second time this has happened to me after applying so it all just seems a bit strange.

It appears that I’m able to log in on Chrome browser but not on Safari. I’m putting the correct password in, I’ve triple checked that it’s correct. But the main thing is false alarm, my account is still there after all!
