I think this unit needs to pay a visit to Willesden Junction station, where the walls in the subway between the high-level and low-level platforms still have tiling in NSE colours !

Just need to overhaul and repaint the rest of them, add aircon, and the job's a good'un. No need for an expensive tendering exercise!

The NSE livery really suits the Networkers, helped by being the later variant of the livery with more white and less grey.

Still looks good. The railway needs another winning 'complete package' identity like this. The London Underground has managed to have one, along with 'London Overground' and the Elizabeth Line, but whilst Southern isn't bad, it's not great. Thameslink is woeful, and SouthEastern, Great Northern, and South Western Railway aren't brilliant either.

Stagecoach's South West Trains was probably the best one.

In fact, of the current line up, none of them jump out like Network Southeast.

Satchi & Satchi need another hit!
A number of recent liveries, presumably under DfT instruction, have been incredibly generic. White with just colour contrast with the doors.

Probably to make it easier with transfers

The thing I’ve noticed is that the livery looks really edited on. It doesn’t look real and that’s strange…

OK - but only where a train is already at the platform but with the doors closed. The biggest safety issue must surely be ensuring that the gap between carriages can’t be mistaken for an open door (so bright internal lighting /flooring necessary).

Ummm... is there any record of anyone, ever in the history of UK railways, mistaking the gap between carriages for an open door and injuring themself by attempting to board there? Seems totally far fetched to me.

Sure that was the quoted reason for the doors being of a contrasting but lighter colour…. As doors have to be some colour or another, it’s effectively cost-free risk mitigation- however infinitesimal that risk may be. Still think, however, that highlighting the door surround (equally cost free) would be better.

I actually think the grey doors work well. Had NSE stuck around I could imagine that is exactly the change that would have been made to be compliant.

Fully agreed - As grey is in the colour palette to begin with (from the first livery variant), it seems the logical choice for contrasting doors.

Wondering if SE are trying to troll enthusiasts at this point.
Probably needs those red curtain picture things removed from the driving motor units. My assumption was they painted them on there for the unveiling curtain location and now they'll need removing as the livery around that part looks rather odd:D:D

They were covering up "Chris Green", but as only one of those name plates was uncovered at the event, the other ones, including the ones not facing the platform, won't have been removed at the time.

Must be unveiled at another event then, I can't see it being out in passenger service this week then if it still has another ceremony lined up

I thought the grey doors might have looked better in white; the grey doors just take the edge off an otherwise excellent job.

NSE did have some good line branding - Wessex Electrics was my favourite.

Nice to see Chris Green honoured - my admiration for the man knows no bounds.
Even heard him say in one interview they should paint all the trains in that livery.

That's got my my vote i definitely think southern, southeastern and SWR when nationalised should ressurect the NSE brand

The other ones all say Chris Green too. OP meant they just hadn’t peeled off the other vinyls at the time. Been done now the unit is named. There isn’t another ceremony.

I agree, network southeast is the one livery that I think still looks good in the modern day

It was such a strong brand. It was a complete corporate design as well - lampposts, seating, posters, clocks(!) as well as the trains. A proper 'whole package', probably not seen since the days of Frank Pick's era at London Transport.

Bring it back I say!

Brilliant the 13:33 is literally perfect for me from Victoria! Couldn’t have asked for better luck!
Make sure to take a good look at the boards, apparently they will announce its services with ‘network southeast’
