(Warning: This post and I assume those of anyone who replies will contain spoilers for SPECTRE)
I figure that as Bond film are a cultural touchstone, it was about time we had a discussion about the latest one.
I have to say, I was very disappointed with Spectre. The plot seemed to be too contrived, trying to tie up everything neatly and ending up seeming like something a child would come up with. "And then it turns out that Blofeld is Bond's brother! And the nasty government baddie is evil!" For that matter, Lea Sedoux's character puts Bond almost in paedophilic territory. Swap Sedoux and Belluci would have made for a lot better film.
This really saddens me, as Quantum of Solace was an excellent film (I rated 5 stars last time I saw it), and Skyfall also very good (4.5 star). Spectre though... it's trying for the gimicky plots without playing it for laughs as Roger Moore did. The opening sequence was something that Roger Moore would have rejected as being too ludicrous.
Rating 2 stars - "meh".
