Wait its getting replaced? Didn’t it get fixed just a few weeks ago?
When the 9700DD arrive the original plan was to replace it at year in with one of 54263/66/67.

It's not getting fixed due to needing a full new engine and B11 engines are no longer being made. The B11 was replaced by B8R on smaller buses like Elites and B13R for the Volvo buses like 9700DD and the 9900.

Its a shame, its a really nice looking bus so it’ll be a shame to see it go. I also saw a beachball livery Interdecker tonight i believe it was SF62 CPV

Beachball will be 54205 & 6.

The one that replaces 54210 will be painted into the same livery.

SF62 CPV has a ULEZ complaint sticker on it but if you type it in on the LEZ checker it says it's not, wonder who's a fault for that one.

I can't believe B11 engines are no longer made. The Oxford Tube has some B11 coaches that are only three years old, you would expect parts to be made for vehicles for many years after they stop being produced.

The earlier 2012/13 registered Interdecks like 54210 have the older Euro 5 D11C engine which was phased out in the UK market around a decade ago ahead of Euro 6. The Oxford Tube coaches you mention have the Euro 6 compliant D11K engine.

With that said its not really accurate to say that the "engines are no longer being made". The D11C is still produced, it just isn't offered on any new products in the UK/EU since it doesn't comply to Euro 6 standards however it is still offered in the South American market. Additionally there is extensive aftermarket and third party backup which can supply most if not all components and reconditioned second hand engines are plentiful. Volvo can also make parts to order even for older types like B10Ms and Ailsas since the tooling still exists, its just usually these come at quite a considerable cost and can take a while.

In the case of 54210 its more likely that the age of the vehicle combined with costs and practicality deem it uneconomical to repair. Its easy to forget those earlier Interdecks are almost 12 years old now.

I appreciate if no one knows for absolute sure but when are the 4 Volvo 9700DD’s due to arrive in Inverness and what are they to be used for? I assume work on the M90/M10

There's 5 new ones pal.

Their allocations are meant to be as below:
50523 - 50527 : M10/M90
54263/66/67 : Spare
54302 : 919
54362/3 : 917
54821 - 24 : M96

Cheers for the correction. I'd heard it was 4 so cheers for setting the record straight as always. I also see that someone's added 18196 to the Stagecoach Highlands fleet list.

Some of the registrations for the changes previously alluded to next month have started to go through. From what i understand the M96 move to Inverness has been delayed until August due to driver shortages, its unclear if that'll affect the other Moray changes however i wouldn't have thought it will given the changes proposed in Moray were very minor.

Not sure if it has been covered here already but these are the first set of changes since the Bluebird commercial unit were essentially ousted and replaced by the Highland commercial unit. The former Commercial Director Daniel Laird has now moved to Go North East while at least one other person in the commercial team has left Stagecoach entirely after many years. Its also worth noting the lack of any public consultation in Aberdeenshire, something which the Bluebird commercial unit were always big on ensuring they did prior to any significant changes. I do wonder if we'll be seeing any backlash given the extent of the proposed changes combined with the lack of any public consultation.

Personal opinion but I think they should just bring back Stagecoach North Scotland; it's basically running like that just with 2 names.

Still don't know why that's here.

Odd question but is there a reason new vehicles take ages to be added to fleet lists on Bustimes. For example the new coaches for Thurso have yet to added to the Stagecoach Highlands fleet list
59104 & 5 are using portable machines that do not track.

54210 is repaired and was road tested yesterday, not exactly sure what parts they could've taken from 53715 though given it has a completely different engine.

18196 is for non-PSV use.

So whats it here for if it won’t see service? I mean they very easily could have it as a spare bus in case an Evora, E400MMC, X25 plate bus or Yutong needs repaired/is off the road they’re honestly just choosing not to

Small update for you: 54210 is now on a pit & Stagecoach Bluebird 53731 & 5 are at Volvo Inverness.
Seen that it was out today on the 30 and M39, i also didn’t see it at the depot when i went this morning, all that was there was 3 double deckers, 2 Evoras and 2 Yutongs. 53708 seems to left though as that wasn’t parked anywhere

Injectors and the fuel rail were the same between were used from 53715 and there was some parts used from 54263 witch dose not have a rear axle at the moment

I got it coming in. It's on Facebook and 54210 is back on the pits in pieces again.

We were tracking it on Green Road.

MX14FUP was using 53715's machine. I don't know if it still is.
