Man flown to hospital after bus crash in Cumbria. Last updated at 09:28, Sunday, 27 September 2015
A man who was in a car involved in a crash with a bus was flown to hospital with a serious injury.
Police confirmed today his condition was described as "stable" following the collision on the A596, west of Carlisle.
It was one of a series of crashes emergency crews were called to yesterday - one of which was another collision involving a bus.
The crash involving the man flown to hospital happened at about 4pm near Micklethwaite, west of Thursby.
Police said he was taken by air ambulance to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.
There were 22 passengers on the bus but none suffered serious injuries although some were treated for minor injuries.
Two other men, believed to have been in the car, were taken to Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary with what police said were minor injuries.
The route was closed and police advised people to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
In a separate crash, a car and a bus were in collision near Keswick. This prompted the closure of the A66.
The collision, believed to also involve a Land Rover, happened between the B5322 Station Road and the A591.
At least one person was understood to have been hurt and taken for medical treatment.
