As it is technically a repaint, Wast Scotland Plaxton Elite 53722 has been given a new retro livery for Stagecoach‘s 40th anniversary.

Aww, that still looks a pretty good livery twenty years after it was replaced by Beachball - colourful without being too complicated, generally working with the shape of the bus (other than where the stripes go through the window towards the rear of the vehicle, but with them being straight lines at that point your mind fills in the "gaps", rather than the complication of having swirls broken up by the big black windows).

I think that a dark colour would work better along the bottom of the vehicle (to avoid every puddle making it look dirty), but I think it holds up pretty well as a livery (much better than the various attempts at the "new" livery that different local depots have tried!)

I didn't really like the dark blue part of the original Gold livery, it made me think of a bus specially chartered to transport mourners to a funeral. :(

But I'm glad the standard white, green, yellow and blue wasn't applied and that a special Gold variation has been thought of, even as this new 'standardized' livery era is being ushered in, the thought of a largely white livery on the outside and a dark blue and gold interior I find somewhat unsettling.
Sorry to disappoint you but I’m pretty sure I saw an ex Gold 300 painted in the messy new local livery around Cheltenham this week. Not nice!

Is there a policy on black window surrounds or not as one of these two identical buses in Mansfield and Carlisle must be wrong?

Well the second with the black window surrounds looks infinitely better than the first.

That looks absolutely fantastic and to be fair doesn't make the Elite look dated either.

I guess London are a different case in that it's just a fleetname, and I dare say they have back stock of the old vinyls to use up first.

Seems to me now that the only division that hasn't repainted anything into the new livery now is East? Most of the recent repaints were on the Busway fleet into the rather stark mint green colour.

I've been largely in favour of the new liveries, but my reaction to this one is, at its very mildest, "oh dear!"

Yeah, Arbroath seem to have a habit of applying mascara to the Solos. 47259 is the same:

Now that's interesting... the front of the vehicle looks dreadful, but at least this time they've got the rear "swoop" to bisect the curve of the rear wheel, which at least looks a bit better than some of the applications (which jarringly cut across the rear wheel)

Looks pretty grubby (for a recently repainted vehicle) - who'd have thought that painting so much of the bottom of the bus in plain white would run into trouble at the first hint of a British winter? The dark blue panels at the bottom of the "beachball" livery hid a multitude of dirt/ grime as well as hiding scrapes with other vehicles) - plain white is asking for trouble!

It's an Angry looking Solo! <D

Actually, there's something else likeable about it. Arbroath seems to have got the Blue over the door to line up, something it seems other Stagecoach OpCo's haven't bothered with and creates a mismatched look of the blue finishing at the top short of the blue side panel.

Just going to say, i do work for stagecoach and i do agree (a few pages back) we do have a abundance of different styles of beachball... this is partly due to loads of our buses being given to us like that and also due to not having a stencil but only tape and as you can guess getting a perfect curve out of a straight peice of material is hard... with the new livery we did do some benifitual changes to it to suit our needs better which included dragged the rear logo forwards so each rear quarter doesnt have 3 colours over it making panel replacement easier. With these new rebrands we are fully going to town including fully rebuilding the exterior panels to completely new ones, fitting full new rear panels and front panels and then being sent around to D&E to get painted... this means every single one of our buses will look the same now as with the new livery we have stenciles... if any of you have a question refering to inverness message or just type here

Thanks for the insight, I always wondered why Inverness repaints weren't straight, the tape explanation makes a lot of sense. Welcome to the forum, nice profile picture!

thankyou and yea made it myself when i took a side photo of one of our scanias, and as you can see by the decker behind that also has a different style beachball, its a ex manchester decker so its common across lots of depots. just since in the end we usually get those odd buses our depot looks the worst for the weird repaintsIMG_4125.jpg

YN65 XEY is in the yellow long distance livery running Preston-Chorley-Bolton on the 125. The only one at the moment.

E200 MMC 37437 (SN16ORG) at Bedford depot is the first one in local livery at Stagecoach East with 37434 (SN16OPZ) due in the paint shop next. Those two were the last in debranded coast hopper livery from the closed Kings Lynn depot

I work for Midlands and we have a grand total of 1 bus (That'd be E200 37065) in the new colour scheme. My thinking is they'll appear soon as they'll be dispatched and swapped where they're needed and any new vehicles that emerge after Covid will be in the new colour scheme from the factory.

PS I think it's meant to be a wheel rather than a beach ball

I'm surprised Northampton depot has nothing in any of the new liveries yet. Some of their Tridents and E400's are looking very faded.
Could it be that Midlands has to send all vehicles to other divisions to get painted as there's no facility to do it at any Midlands depot?

Nothing to do with paint facilities, everything to do with the fact that Midlands need every bus they can lay their hands on...don't forget they're also hiring-in from Ensign.

That livery looks dreadful.

I think the only one which is worse is the all-over green livery.

I do think the amount of white on the new colour scheme means it'll get dirty and look pretty shabby bery fast. I'm not all that fussed what colour my bus is as long as it's in good order and drives ok.
