During the daytime between Monday and Saturday, there is a half-hourly service southbound to Cardiff Central and onwards to Radyr on the City Line and to Coryton northbound. The former services also call at Ninian Park station.

Although Ninian Park is located within close proximity to the Cardiff City FC Stadium, services skip the station within three hours of a game to avoid fans overcrowding the narrow platforms. Such is the same case with Drayton Park, where the station shuts prior and after a match game at the nearby Arsenal Stadium over concerns of hosting fans on the narrow platforms.

Gleneagles is another station on the Stirling-Perth line which had three platforms and a secondary line branching off to the North-West.

Gleneagles station serves a town with a different name than the station (Auchterarder). Dunrobin Castle station is similar in that it essentially serves the castle of the same name rather than a settlement.

(I hope that this one is okay, but I won't be disappointed if it isn't, as the tongue is quite a long way in the cheek!)

The South London Line passes across the south end of Loughborough Junction station via a bridge but has never had platforms there. This line is now part of the London Overground network and, in December 2012, an extension connected the South London Line to the East and West London Lines, allowing rail services to run across South London from Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction. However, Loughborough Junction is not an interchange station, and no London Overground platforms are planned there as the line is on high railway arches, making the cost of any station construction prohibitive.

Surbiton station was completely rebuilt in 1937 by the Southern Railway with two island platforms with canopies. The buildings were designed by the railway's Chief Architect, James Robb Scott in an art deco style. Malden Manor station on the Chessington Branch Line is another of the stations designed by him.
