Wrexham General remains the only station to retain its GWR "General" suffix.

Other stations, such as Chester, have lost the suffix entirely.

Radyr is another station that is served by services that can operate from either end of a major station (Cardiff Central).

Southamnpton Central - Romsey via Redbridge or via Chandlers Ford. Cardiff Central - Radyr via Danescourt or Cardiff Queen Street

Harrow & Wealdstone was also the scene of a serious railway accident.

Ealing Broadway is another station that was originally built to a larger track gauge, had a suffix added to its name and is currently served by National Rail and London Underground. It is also in Travelcard Zone 3.

Pitsea uses the 'Tribute' ticketing system which was first introduced at London St Pancras in 1994. In former days there was a through service from St Pancras to the LT & S route on which Pitsea lies.

Although Betjeman is closely associated with St Pancras he also described the facade at Huddersfield as "The most splendid in England".

Unlike Penistone, at the other end of the former Woodhead route that saw it's electric wires removed - diesel traction now being the sole preserve of trains through the station.
