What about Stone Crossing? The cabin is still used by staff but I don't think for signalling purposes anymore.

Housed the bloke who controls the crossing when I was there in May - the pedestrian provision is a modern metal gate that just requires securing or releasing remotely, I'm not sure if the old wooden barriers that would allow traffic to pass through are still in useable condition!

My comments regarding Truro and PZ have been covered. Re Salisbury, the building on the Island platform which looks like a signalbox wasn't.

Bournemouth (Old) is still standing and the old Southampton Central box was pretty adjacent. There are other examples of old SR boxes still standing proud..Winchester, Portsmouth Harbour and Tisbury.

Effingham Junction Box remains trapped between over bridges - presumiably long out of commission.
Gomshall & Shere (ARP) Box remains as a very solid PWay "hut".
Did Oxted get a mention? It's a small nondescript brick building behind where the real Signalbox used to be.
Bexhill
Chatham
Dorchester South
Is Dartford still there or has it been demolished?

Droitwich Spa - visible from the platform but more easily from the overbridge
Shrewsbury - Crewe Junction - Crewe Bank (out of commission - rather out of sight) Severn Bridge. Abbey Foregate (visible from the platform ends).

Stoke-on-Trent
Uttoxeter
Sudbury
Tutbury
Stafford 4 and 5 are still there although out of use - both can be seen if you locate the correct platform ends.
Nantwich (Out of use)
Rugeley/Brereton Sdgs (Still there?)

Macclesfield
Worksop - old by the level crossing new at the other end of the platforms - pretending to be a cardboard box.
Buxton - just about in sight of the platforms
Furness Vale
Chapel-En-Le-Frith
Dinting

Rufford (although you might not spot it).
Bamber Bridge (works level crossing)
Birkdale

Melton Mowbray
Oakham

Blackpool
Poulton-le-Fylde

Abergele
Llandudno Jnct
Deganwy
Llandudno
Llanfairpwllgwyngyll (only looks after the level crossing -- if it's still there).
Valley

If Crewe (pig pen) counts then so does Chester "Box". Similarly Derby - and Warrington is at least within the complex of lines - although it didn't control all of them when I was last there.

Was the thing that looks like it should have been a panel box at Aylesbury ever actually some variety of Signalbox?

Have Swinderby or any of the Lincoln boxes survived?

-------------------

London Underground - Farringdon

----------

GCR (Heritage) - Loughborough Central, Quorn & Woodhouse and Rothley.

Llangollen Railway - Llangollen (town), Glynfyfrdwy and Carog.

North York Moors - Goathland and Levisham.

Bluebell Railway - Horsted Keynes and Sheffield Park

East Lancs - Ramsbottom - and (just about) Bury Bolton Street (better from the bridges).

Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway - Bolton Abbey and Embsay.

North Norfolk - Sheringham (one by the level crossing and the main one visible from the road bridge at the other end) Weybourne and Holt.

Welshpool & Llanfair - Llanfair Caereinon

West Somerset - Blue Anchor, Washford, Willington (might be a groundframe) Crowcombe Heathfield and Bishops Lydeard

Nene Valley railway - Orton Mere and Wansford.

Kent & East Sussex - Tenterden, Rolvenden, Wittersham and Northiam

Churnett Valley Railway - Cheddleton.

The Midland Railway Centre has signalboxes and Signalbox shells all over the place.

-----

How many NR boxes that could have been in the listing have vanished in the last year?

What about Brocklesby Signal Box its actually set in the middle of the island platform, ( not sure if all ready been listed in above post,s ) actual box now closed and station also closed but still very much in existence. An example of a box where you went down a few steps from the platform and entered the bottom room of the signal box and then up steps inside to enter the signal box operateing floor by lifting a trap door in the floor to stop the draught coming in the box upstairs.

Another example long gone was Stainforth & Hatfield signal box also set on island platform.

Swinderby is still there, both Stafford boxes have now been demolished and Uttoxeter is not visible from the platform being a little distance down the line.
