Yes, I would very much like to talk to Carl Chinn, very interesting bloke by all accounts, with a lot of knowledge on the history of my area! He was at the Express and Star offices the other day at a book signing of his.

Kevin Smith - "The Ugliest Man in Brum 2005" (as Yorkie knows) as we met this creature at Birmingham last Saturday. He hangs around plastic- filled New Street all day, and tries to befreinds people and is a complete stoat.
Anyone know if he's still locked up or not? I know I should really ask Tom, but Yorkie or metcam may know. Poor, poor Kevin, bad news shouldn't come over the phone! :(

I should have worded that a bit better sorry for any offense to the nice peaple(and ive altered the wording of that post) its just that ive had quite a few run ins with certain peaple over the years who follow various classes some of it was not pleasent
oh and i 2 like hsts they should bring them back lets see a certain brand of vermin unit lasting as long as they do :D
oh did anyone else on this forum who was on the last paighton-padd in september-2002 have the same experience with the rpos as i did i know they had a go at another person on "br free"travel spaces guess they were just out to get as many as possible that day

Glad you like HSTs. That disregards the 'oh he's a first gen unit fan' image from my brain a bit.

I am and aren't a HST follower. Granted, I've done all the FGW HST routes time and time again, with intention of covering the GNER HST routes in 2006. But I'm not the most knowledgeable person on HSTs, albeit HSTfan!!! and I disputing which of us is the bigger fan. Anyway, my point is I'm certainly not like some of the tractor bashers, or for that matter general spotters, I've seen, in that you get made to feel you MUST know everything about the class of train you're interested in. To me, that takes the fun out of it. I'd rather enjoy, say, 37425 for its sound and clag than for, say, its fuel range!

i like a lot of stuff well old stuff and im not averse to the odd kettle as well so long as its 5764 off the svr :D i used to do many miles a year over 40000+and filled 3 haulage books a year but my last book has taken 3 years to fill i mostley do tours now-must remember to wear a mask next time to scare the stoatface cameras :D or maybe its time to turn the tables only jokeing on that score :D
ive got 2 tours on the books for next year going to penznace(put off from october) and the rerun of the infamous pathfinder tour to pwllhelli that went to blackpool hopefully in may it will get there this time then it will be the first tracter ive had north of dovey jct since 1988 althought i did do the 31s and used to enjoy the comfert of the first class compartment when it was at the front comeing back althought sometimes the guard locked it!
Staying on the subject of the cambrain my best ever trip on the cam had to be saturday 2nd september 1987 when d200 worked down and back to aberywyth althought i did get off at welshpool comeing back and nipped down to caersws to get a pair of tracters comeing back :D
And i can even remember my first ever hst ride it was from newton abbott to plymouth in there first weeks of us many years ago long before the sprinters were even thought of and there were still plenty of real trains around :D

The best way to avoid Kev is to either totally avoid Birmingham New Street (VERY hard) or avoid Tom Donnelly, as they hang around with each other alot.

To be honest, it's an embarrasment being associated with someone like that.

They obviously have mental ilnesses, some of these people, they need to get help, but I'm sorry but I'd rather not be seen near anyone like that. I was glad that we got away from him at Birmingham, but obviously not under the sad circumstances.

Stoatface is a difficult one. I can see both sides of the argument. I can see a case for saying it's morally wrong, but on the other side of the coin if they remove people immediately on request, and providing it stays within the law (ie. no libel or illegally obtained photos, or invasion of privacy, etc), then I can't see too much of a problem.

As far as I'm aware (based on what I've been told) they will remove photos immediately on request.

Now, thats a bit harsh on Tom, as that was the first time he'd seen him for about 3 or 4 months, Tom also hates Kevin very badly, but he is a very good natured person, who is too nice to say "F**k off you freak" - lol!

Palmz.
