The current blockade of WCML has had a beneficial effect on my local station of Lockerbie; on the two saturdays (today and next weekend) Virgin are stopping many of their services at LOC which do not normally do so. To the point where we have at least 50% more arrivals and departures than normally.

Any other unintended bonuses out there?

For the CRS-ically challenged LOC is Lockerbie.

Nevermind, should read more carefully.

During some of the blocks south of Rugby (when the Chiltern diversionary services run), Nuneaton to Rugby has gone from 1tph to 4tph:D

Though they've also cancelled all Preston-Edinburgh services which is less convenient. Only leaves the Transpennine Express 3 coaches every 2 hours.

Virgin do come up with some helpful little engineering work plans occasionally.

Last Easter saw all the Euston - Wolverhampton trains extended to Preston so Watford, Coventry, Birmingham International and Sandwell & Dudley all gained hourly services to and from Preston for a few days.

There is a full complement of trains in and out of Edinburgh but to/from Carlisle.

Today's 1259 from CAR was an EDB service that started at Preston formed of a 9 car Pendolino, so not all cancelled at Preston.

On other lines, Brighouse can get extra services (including middle of the night ones) when TPX diverted away from Huddersfield. Services often call at Brighouse for buses to Hud.

Engineering work will see Kentish Town - Brighton services. Along with Luton to Sutton via London Bridge services!

When electrification work between Manchester Oxford Rd and Newton-le-Willows causes ATW to divert their Manchester Piccadilly/Chester/Llandudno services via the Mid-Cheshire line, they sometimes stop at Stockport.

This gives that town a non-stop service to Chester and through services to North Wales it doesn't otherwise enjoy.
