These 12 car tests down the PDL were done at 3-4am; tripping the entire Havant area. Bare in mind no other trains are in the area.
power supply compatibility
These tests failed, and this is why they aren't used as 12 car sets on the PDL.
I was not aware of any issues with power supply compatibility being reported back to Alstom. The type test results were accepted by SWR and NR.
I also thought there was some daytime 12-car testing operated out of Bournemouth to verify TMS functionality, but I may be mistaken.
Unfortunately I no longer have access to the test data to confirm.

Sorry, I imagine this has been mentioned somewhere on the thread, but have these kept their first class sections?

I had to make an account just to point out how inaccurate this is. The 12 car night testing was a success, with no issues experienced at all. The problem as others have said, is the physical length of the train compared to a 12.450.

Yes - First Class has remained (albeit declassified while running on Windsor line services)

That makes the whole situation worse really. I can understand unforseen issues arising during testing preventing 12 car running, but the length of the trains was known and it is a pretty monumental error to sign off on this project when it was never going to work. Not to mention how useful the 458/5 would be right now...

What a colossal waste of money.

I think it’s actually that the toilets are all going to get a refurb.
Not before time! It'll be their first refurbishment (not counting that the disabled toilets were replaced after a couple of years due to being non-compliant).

How many /4s are required on the Weybridge? Asking because wondering if there are enough to allow the remaining /4s to go on other lines

8 diagrams so 16 units, but there's still a few 450s on the 2Sxx. Probably changes slightly with the peak time hounslow rounders

They are, but that’s not started yet.
Assuming the toilet refurbishment actually takes place I guess that will signal the intention for the units to have a long term future, rather than potentially heading for storage then scrap once all the 701s have entered service (if that actually ever happens!).

Presumably there needs to be some 450s on those services to keep Basingstoke current on the route without them signing 458s?
