On Saturday a Crewe driver said that there was a slight dragging brake on it but it seemed to continue onwards. Seems to have come up again now.

Heading to Cardiff tomorrow (27.2.25) and looking for dvt 82226 and coach 12217, anyone able to advise which set number they are currently part of and if they are likely to be out.

Thanks in advance

82226 is part of HD01

12217 is part of HD03

They are both out today and both on diagrams ending at ATC Crewe tonight. If they come out tomorrow, your two diagrams to look for are the 05:13 Crewe Cardiff, 08:53 Cardiff Manchester, 12:30 Manchester Cardiff & 16:53 Cardiff Manchester and the other Crewe starter is the 06:27 Manchester Cardiff, 14:53 Cardiff Manchester & 18:30 Manchester Cardiff.

As things stand HD01 is pencilled in for the diagram starting from Manchester at 06:27 with HD03 starting on the 05:13 Crewe to Cardiff

67010+HD02 not now expected back until Friday so the same 4 diagrams running tomorrow as today using HD01/03/05/07.

67029+HD04 now at Crewe ETD for tyre turning, also a day behind original schedule and expected to head to ATC on Friday, back available from Saturday.

Hi all, any updates on HD08's progress? I haven't seen much of it recently!
Believe they should be on the move from Bristol any time soon. AFAIK Eastleigh will be their first call for some mods before they continue on to Landore.

RTT & Journey Check has 1V62 18.30 Manchester to Hereford only
Then ECS to Canton
Why would that be? Not enough fuel to pull away from station stops? or no guard forward from Hereford?
It will make for a very poor passenger experience, especially at that time of night. Will they provide 2 buses (1 to run direct) or just tell people to wait an hour?

Nothing to do with fuel
Showing as Engineering Work

The 18.30 Manchester to Cardiff
will be terminated at Hereford.
It will no longer call at Abergavenny, Pontypool And New Inn, Cwmbran, Newport South Wales and Cardiff Central.
This is due to engineering works not being finished on time.
Additional Information:
Customers from Shrewsbury advised to travel on the 19:45 departure to Hereford where replacement road transport supplied by Star Travel and CMD Coaches will serve stations Hereford to Cardiff Central.
Road transport calling points may be found on station information posters and the Transport for Wales Rail website.
Extended journey times may be experienced.
We apologise for the disruption to your journey.

How can the engineering work "not finish on time" and only disturb a train later in the evening?

Does this mean that the 19:30 will also be terminating at Hereford? Currently, both 19:30 and 20:30 are shown as through to Cardiff.

I am now getting nervous for tomorrow.

Is this just a case of the railway failing basic communication?

Maybe some unplanned works they have discovered need doing? There are other trains affected too. 1629 Holyhead to Cardiff terminates at Shrewsbury and 2124 Cardiff to Shrewsbury is cancelled.

There is currently a 5mph ESR at Maindee so I’m wondering if it’s to do with that. 5V62 showing as going round the curve and reversing at Usk, but not sure why that can’t be done in service as it’s Cardiff crew worked and they sign it.

Crewe guards & drivers don’t sign via Usk which would possibly make sense for some workings being missing (21:24 Cardiff Crewe tonight, and the 05:15 & 06:10 Shrewsbury Cardiffs tomorrow are all Crewe drivers, and Shrewsbury guards for the morning two and they don’t sign Usk either)

as a mere passenger (nowadays) I am surprised that they are not prepared to have a local driver and guard out there to conduct the crews who need it between the 2 junctions. Sounds like a very basic bit of train planning/diagramming...

p.s. I should have said that that is a good reason, but a very poor excuse!

So will the 19:30 and 20:30 from Manchester be crewed by Cardiff and going via Usk (RTT is not good at saying what is going on when trains go off scheduled route).

This just sounds very poor. Especially considering if the issue is Maindee the train could serve Cwmbran in service.
