67029 + set scheduled to head north at 1609 ex Newport in the booked 1445 Swansea - Manchester path, as 1Z70. No immediate prospect of departure, no Crew yet.

Incidentally, 4th May is International Firefighters' Day (as well as Star Wars Day)!

BBC now says it was a grass fire on an embankment near a substation - 1V18 seems to have worked through and given the previous seeming reluctance to go l/h vice unit are they expecting line back soon?

1v91 off Holyhead is allocated 197001
Looks like a thinned out service tomorrow with potentially only the reliefs open between Cardiff and Newport so may well be in response to that.
It's HD03s last day tomorrow before an exam so it can't just stay until Tuesday anyway.

HD04 is planned to swap onto the 18:53 Cardiff to Manchester this evening rather than the cancelled evening Holyhead.

Light engine 67008 move is cancelled until normal working resumes.

Tomorrow, if normal working is back then HD03 has been granted an extension to work to get to Crewe, if the line isn't fully open then HD03 will run ECS to Crewe ETD for storage pending space at ATC, whilst HD04 is planned to run ECS to Holyhead to be in place for when the line fully opens.

South Wales to Manchester services are mostly being split at Crewe tomorrow with a Crewe-Manchester shuttle service after some huge delays today so the only Mk4 from Manchester tomorrow at least will likely be the 06:27 departure.

Really helpfully the units vice, which can normally be relied on to appear in RTT don't today.

Can anyone say why 1V46 terminated Hereford, around the time of an unspecified operating incident according to national rail.

67029 connected to HD05

67020 connected to HD01 (B exam)

67022 connected to HD02 which was in service until it got cancelled at Crewe and came on depot.

I was travelling back to Bristol from Stockport today via the Marches. As the 1040 was cancelled due to yesterday's fire but was shown as starting at 1110 at Crewe, I got the 1019 Northern service to Crewe arriving 10:58.

The 1110 was a 2 coach 197 sitting in platform 8 with the doors locked. It was immediately clear it was going to be rammed throughout the journey. After the doors were opened and everyone boarded the driver and guard then ended up in several discussions with the platform staff. The guard informed us twice that it wasn't clear if this would be the 1110. At around 1120 we were told to move to platform 6 where our train would be arriving shortly.

At 1128 the 0932 arrival from Cardiff rolled in formed of a 67 (not sure which one) and MkIV set. After around only 5 minutes to disembark northbound passengers and embark southbound passengers it set off to Cardiff as the delayed 1110. It lost more time due to having to stop at all stations south of Shrewsbury due to stop orders, and was sitting at Maindee Junction for several minutes. I left when it arrived at Newport just after 1400. RTT indicates it sat there for 20 minutes and eventually arrived 80 minutes later, presumably due to multiple malfunctioning signals and or capacity restraints.

Not sure if that helps anyone but I thought I'd throw it out there.

All Holyhead-Cardiff services are turning at Shrewsbury today.
RTT says 1V91 is loco-hauled but is it in fact a 197?
It's just the normal path but cut back to Shrewsbury but it is a 197.

Delays are nowhere near yesterdays level so most of the 1Wxx services from Cardiff have gone on to form the 1Txx service to Manchester.

There's now a points issue at Crewe which has once more broken the route with no through able to access Crewe station from

HD02 and HD05 were also sent out the wrong way round off ATC which May lead to some swapping later.

Question: we've noticed at work that on the DVT's the unit numbers have changed from (for example, HD01 to BN23). Does anyone know why this is please and what does BN23 mean because we have no idea?

BN23 is the set number from when it was part of set BN23 (Bounds Green) at LNER (and East Coast etc). It’s an old sticker, the set is still HD01/82226.

HD02 has issues (as probably expected by now!) And is being nursed back to Crewe where it will spend the next couple of days being repaired.

With HD01 on exam and HD03 stored at Crewe ETD pending exam this does mean the diagrams are solely in the hands of the 4 black sets so one will be a unit. The plan is that the diagram starting in Holyhead is a unit in its entirety tomorrow (1V91/1W57/1V46/1W65) then on Thursday the Crewe to Crewe diagram (1V31/1W55/1V42/1W63) then on Friday HD02 should be available to fill back in on a Crewe start with 5 diagrams back on Friday.
