No problem, if I contacted you directly would you be able to check a couple of trains? I just want to make sure they are 8/12 cars and not 4. As TL have done this in the past and it is a pain.

I'm back now after some time away so I may be able to assist.

As for train length, there's a mix of 4, 8 and 12 car services on Thameslink. Booked to be that way on standard weekend days.

Could you confirm the 07:31 from BTN and the 18:12 and 18:42 from LBG?

Thanks!

Apologies if I've missed any posts about this but today, diagram TB501, booked for a 700/1 is being worked by 377 143, 377 461 and 377 450 which I'm currently on! An earlier TL service from Brighton to London Bridge was terminated at East croydon and was worked by 377 160, 377 103 and 377 146! This was a shame as I was expecting and waiting for a 700. Any reason why Southern units are being loaned for these services today?

It's a revised Saturday service today, not SX.

So is the loaning of Southern 377's on Thameslink services a regular occurrence then every Saturday or is it just throughout the Christmas period?

That's a Daily occurrence. Most LBG-BTN services are SN 377s except for the weekday ones covered by TB501

Sorry for the delay, been busy so didn't see your question until now.

For the record the services are booked to be...

07.31 BTN - LBG 8 car 377

18.12 LBG - BTN 12 car 377

18.42 LBG - BTN 8 car 377

All are booked Southern units

Any news on when they'll be using Class 700s to and from Peterborough?

Later in 2017. GN testing is still o going at present (and slightly ahead of when it's needed). Currently efforts are to replace all TL services with class 700s prior to the 700s going onto other routes. However by end of 2017 the 700s will have spread further.

Is the plan also to run them up to Cambridge North on opening too?

GTR are proposing the Brighton to Cambridge service runs to Cambridge North on its 2tph frequency.

I've just worked that out when trying to track down more 700s on the Catford Loop.

This week (weekday) all services from Orpington and Sevenoaks are 319s.

I'm aware of the eventual plan, I was just wondering if the interim plan was known (before they run through the core), given the year's gap between Cambridge North opening and the Canal Tunnels being put into use.

The 700s will start running on Cambridge services during 2017 and if/when they are extended to Cambridge North the 700s will run there. They will be running to Cambridge North prior to the Canal Tunnels accepting passenger traffic (Tunnels are already open).

Plan is for the 700s to be used on further routes replacing stock prior to linking to Thameslink. An example of this will be 700s booked to run from Kings Cross to Cambridge and Peterborough in 2017 on same services than exist now.

How long will it take to get to Cambridge north? Considering the x04 and x52 kings cross services have at least 25 mins at Cambridge, would this be enough to absorb into the existing diagrams with the risk that the service will be turned at Cambridge during late running.

I hope turnround times at Cambridge North will be generous. Over time turnround times at Peterborough have reduced on many services for various reasons, and it's very evident how this impacts on punctuality. By contrast the XX30 Cambridge to London trains tend to be fairly punctual.

I assume he drives (or is driven) or else how the heck does he get to work on time?

GTR's HQ is in London, so perhaps he uses the Tube or another TOC...
I know that one MD of FCC had a second property (a small flat, next door to a friend) that was walking distance to Hertford House, Old Street. If raining, a few stops on the 55.

But it does now make me wonder how the head honcho and indeed other management, plus ordinary office staff for GTR, get to work and home.

As I suspected, so a lot must be just as p***ed off as everyone else. At least they don't have to use Delay Repay though.

Or maybe they do, for accounting purposes!

Not allowed to do delay repay but are expected to get to work on time no matter what.

When he worked for us. He cycled.

How to GTR expect their workers to be there on time if they're taking GTR's service!

It's our responsibility to get to work. I would say that part of the reason why we have such rules as being close to your depot ensures that we get to work on time.
