I quite fancy a trip to the Isle of Wight but it’s up to the next player to decide.

Can I intercede here, speaking from actual personal experience.. The Southern Vectis number 5 service that came in at East Cowes in the posting prior to the one above required a pedestrian connection to Cowes from there by the use of the chain link ferry across the river to access Cowes then it is quite a walk from there to the Red Funnel ferry terminal. Are you confusing matters with the Southern Vectis service 1 that goes direct from Newport to the Red Funnel ferry terminal.

Does that carry passengers without cars?

The one from West Cowes to Southampton does.

No, your last post placed us on Well Road outside Waitrose, in East Cowes. A quick check on Google Maps shows a ten minute walk along Dover Road to the ferry terminal. The passenger only ferry runs from West Cowes, which indeed requires a transfer across the river first.

Please see this link for more info: https://www.redfunnel.co.uk/en/isle-of-wight-ferry/terminal-facilities/east-cowes/

I think what is not fully clear is, after making the walk from Well Road in East Cowes, at the time of that bus arrival at 2141, there still has to be the walk from there to the chain link ferry, noting both the departure and arrival times of the chain link ferry from East Cowes to Cowes and its arrival there. That can only be the following journey to make, as only one such journey is surely allowed to be made in a posting submission in this quiz. The other part of the journey, the walk from the chain link ferry arrival point in Cowes to the Red Funnel ferry terminal and the subsequent crossing to Southampton Vehicle Terminal has to be a totally different posting submission.

I'm really not sure why there is so much confusion.

There is no chain link ferry. We don't need to go to any other part of Cowes.

We are doing this:

1) Getting off your bus at Well Road at 2141.
2) Taking the ten minute walk from Well Road to the Ferry Terminal at East Cowes, arriving at 2151.
3) Boarding the vehicle ferry to Southampton at 2230.
