We board the 20:54 Stagecoach Manchester service 50 to Salford (New Bailey Street / Salford Central Station) arriving at 21:29 on Thursday.

This affords plenty of time to enter the railway station and board the 2143 Northern Trains service to Langho that arrives there at 2243 on Thursday evening.

THere are no more buses in Langho for the rest of the day, so our only option is to get the next (and last) train, which is Northern's 2J24, the 2305 towards Manchester Victoria, which we request to the guard to stop at Entwistle, where we arrive at 2332 on Thursday.

Buses are a bit few and far between in these parts so after a chilly night on a bench on the platform, it's wave down the first train in the morning, the 06:16 Northern service 2N50 to Clitheroe where we arrive at 06:55 on Friday morning.

The timetable isn't too dissimilar on a Saturday, it's 0512 arriving at 0542.

It is just under a half-mile walk to Highbury Vale tram stop, so we take 9 minutes to walk there and then board the 0750 Nottingham Express Transit tram to Butler's Hill tram stop, where we arrive at 0758 on Saturday.

This tram journey is outwith the 15 min frequency of services shown on NET's timetable on their website, but is shown on their journey planner and on bustimes.org...
