The truth about morrisons.

Ten reason NOT to shopp at morrisons.

1. Morrisons is a tight fisted company, all staff are expected to buy their own trousers and must buy white t-shirts because the shirts they are given are so incredibly thin.

2. Canteen prices for all staff have double in a month from just over one pound to £2.50

3. The managers dont do any menial work, they stand around on their walky talkies all day earning more than the people that actually do something for the company.

4. The builders used to refurbish the morrisons stores are morrisons employees. He gets people from the north and they refurbish stores in cornwall, devon etc a long journey.

5. The ride for kids are owned by morrisons brother to get that little bit extra money from you.

6. The morrison uniform is impracticle, you must wear a tie and the apron you wear goes down to your ankles so when you bend down to clean something you either cant get up or you fall backwards.

7. Noticed less reduced items reciently? Thats because morrisons cons the customer into thinking that they only have a few reduced items in stock and they only put out some at a time so you spend more money.

8. During store refurbishment stock is moved to near by morrisons stores to be kept instead of selling it of discounted so the burden of storing goods is put down to the other store.

9. Morrisons staff are not allowed to eat in the morrisons cafe for some strange reason and are not allowed to shop in store after their shift unless they are not wearing their uniform, this is because they think that the 'customer' will be angry to see one of morrisons staff shopping in the store when they are actually a customer anyway.

10. Morrisons by the cheapest fruit and veg they can by. It goes mouldy withing a few days, i happened to purchase accidentally 2 packets of bread which wre both mouldy. The fruit goes mouldy very easily and the fruit is dry inside anyway.

I have to feel sorry for the staff, what are your opinions.

Well, I have to say, I was very sad when Morrisons took over Safeways, as the quality is nowhere near as good. We shopped there for a time, but now mostly shop at Waitrose or Somerfield. We spoke to a man who had worked in Safeway when he was at uni in Newcastle, and then moved to hull. He made sure that he was transferred to the Safeway that was becoming a Waitrose, as the pay is far superior to Morrisons, and the staff discount is much more generous.

I believe that Morrisons' conversions of Safeway stores are of a very poor quality overall, and they seem to be trying to do them 'on the cheap'.

The staff discount at safe way was 10% on all itens, with Morrisons its 12.5% on all ELECTRICAL items. And that morrisons (pardon my french) screwed waitrose and somerfield when they gave that tose store.

Out of the top 5 times that I have waited the longest for food in a cafe, 4 of them have been in a MORrisONS cafe.
We went from almost instant food, cooked in minimal grease and you could see it being cooked in Safeway, to hidden, 35min PLUS wait for foods that are cooked in grease and are normally cold 1st time round. What are they trying to hide.
The staff are as miserable as sin... and I think that this sign says it all:
http://gallery143831.fotopic.net/p12592443.html

And some 'adverts':

Not to mention their opening hours. Safeway always opened until 10pm,
meaning that there was time to do the shopping at night. MORrisONS have slashed that to 8pm most nights, making it useless for
many commuters and people who never sleep! I've defected to Tesco - it may be a lot less convenient locationally but at least they seem to value my custom and provide a service when I want it, not only that but it is cheaper than MORrisONS.

Gareth the point is that the staff all get **** on and it has only just come up, the quality of food has gone down because morrisons took on a company twice its size, it cant take it. The safeway staff were the ones that were hard hit.

And no but my dad works there

Ah, so that would also include your posts that offended me with your comments on how I post news then?

I would hope that a difference was drawn between pointing out a valid criticism and using offensive language.

As far as I'm aware it is a variation of a word used to refer to excrement.

tbh, the general thing doesn't sound much different than the majority of major/well known/High Street retail stores.

Some of those points are simular to Ryanair. Mainly you have to buy your own uniform, your not allowed to charge your mobile phone in the office to save 1/2p a day!

Ryanair staff have to pay for their own training apparently... I think the HSE raised eyebrows about it a while back

Cost cutting like that could affect Passenger Safety and in a few years when it becomes Europes biggest Airline* the CAA and HSE may have many questions to ask.

* According to Ryanair.com
