Top Gear ladies and gentleman, love it? Or hate it?

Personaly I love it. It is fantastic. I like the presenters - including Clarkson, he may be a loud mouthed imboseale but, half the time, he has a point!

So the fans of the show will be pleased to know (if they don't already) that the new series starts this weekend, 8pm Sunday on BBC2. Its going to be a cracker (well it should be, we've waited a year!). I'm looking forward to the Stigism, there's just bound to be something about Tesco!

I also have a few theories on who is The Stig.

Kimi Raikkonen - it just seems all too convenient how he's also secretive and doesn't talk
Bruce Forsyth
Angela Lansburry - ticks all the boxes!

Roll on Sunday!

Speaking as someone who has no knowledge or interest in cars or motoring, I find it a great watch, especially the challenges they do, from the GCR one to the legendary trek across Botswana. The Bolivia one was ace too :D

Well I think it is pre recorded so I doubt there will be anything about Tesco, And as for your Stig Theory, I've put in bold the most likely candidate.

BBC is hardly ever on in our house, but Top Gear is one of the few BBC programmes I never miss.
My wife loves it too.

The various film segments are done throughout the year and inserted as and when.

But the studio bit is normally done on the Tuesday or Wednesday before the Sunday so it remains topical.

I have no real interest in cars so I usually skip the car test where Jezza drives around the track each week in a new car but I watch the rest of the show and I love it!

Clarkson tweeted last year that the Christmas special will be shown during this series as well instead of at Christmas (2012).

Its quite amusing.

Follows in the long tradition of BBC comedies with three blokes mucking about.

Like The Goodies.

Or Last of the Summer Wine.

I do prefer the older episodes, more recent series haven't really done it for me...

The 3 Supercars to Millau will take some beating

I'm another one looking forward to the return of Top Gear.

I'm not really that interested in cars - I just enjoy the mucking about and jokes!

I think it has run its course. Yes I like the chemistry between the 3 of them and some of the photography is stunning, but the stars in...cars interview piece is cringeworthy at times and the format is now very repetitive.

Oliver! And the Beeeeeetle :)

Always loved my Volkswagens, so i have to admit with that episode i did want one of the cars to die, just so they'd have to drive in one of their most hated cars. Mind you, first time i'd ever saw one of those Opel Kadetts - I Quite like them now!

As for me, love it. Despite the almost constant rumblings in the background (mostly by my father) - errrrr, It's all pre arranged etc... I still like it. The only thing i wish they'd cover a little more is more normal-er cars - Golf GTI, The Mad Mad World Rally Car POLO :D And slightly less supercars.

My only downside with this series - It's only 6 Episodes long! Why BBC?

I agree, the SIARPC section has gone down hill slightly. It got realy good when they were getting top people on it - the likes of Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Jeoff Goldblum and so on. Then it went down hill again.

Maybe we've been spoiled by the fact that they've had these top guests on, no anybody else seems a bit lowbrow? Either way, to re-juvinate the segment they need some top people on it again.

It's an entertainment show not a car show in the main, not to be taken seriously - I like the challenges more than anything :)

It was more the lack of a chat show with Jonathan Ross's show being cancelled. Celebrities with something to plug who would normally appear there were diverted to Top Gear, then Graham Norton's show was launched and the Celebrities went there instead.

I'd prefer interesting people than Hollywood A listers. People who've had an interesting car history (owned some heaps or crashed every single car they've owned) its also boring watching someone who can drive quickly drive round the track. The late Richard Whiteley was a hoot, boasting about a Jaguar that can do 0-60 in 5 seconds and then driving round like a little old lady! Jonny Vegas, who can't actually drive was good too!

Not my cup of tea so even 6 episodes is to long in my opinion.

If you don't like something watch something else instead.I know you are only giving your opinion but there are plenty of other programmes and channels available.

I do watch something else if it takes my fancy or just turn the TV off.

The OP asked the question Love it? Or hate it? So just giving my point of view and not criticising anybody for liking the programme, after all we al can't like the same thing.

I do enjoy watching Top Gear.
I particularly like the cheap car challenges and such but I echo the sentiments of those those who feel that SIARPC has gone down hill, I just treat it the same way as I would an ad break and make a cup of tea. Although in the Xbox game Forza Motorsport 4 i did enjoy the fact that you get a SIARPC achievement when you drive the Kia Ce'ed around the Top Gear track.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the new series brings. Probably James May trying to take things seriously while Hammond and Clarkson just muck around, but still even with the repetition it can be rather entertaining.

I find that SIARPC is just far too long these days and takes up way too much of the programme.

I think that the power laps are far more interesting, espicially shen they put two similar cars against each other to see which is the fastest. Perhaps there should be three or more similar cars against each other instead of SRPC ('Star in a reasonably priced car' [with technically correct abrevaition]).

Have to agree, Watching the older shows easily proves how downhill the recent episodes have been.

However, Going by the previews for the new series...It *looks* like old Top Gear could be back! Hopefully

My favourite TV programme by a country mile, although series 13 (Summer 2009) was abysmal.

There's also too few episodes in a series. I watch it on Netflix and there were 10 episodes in series 2 and 8 in series 3, yet we're lucky if we get more than 6 now :(

Even though it's a huge moneyspinner for the BBC, I am sure there's a limit to the 'tests' they can organise, as well as the fact that they're going to gradually run out of amazing feature ideas and they'll gradually become more 'samey' and less interesting.

I like the show, but it's now something that I'll watch if I catch it. I don't actively go out of my way to watch it, and don't even set it to record as otherwise it will probably just sit on my Sky+ planner unviewed.
